Position: Chief Accountant Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred. Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in real estate, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role. Languages: Fluent in English & Arabic (both oral & written). Summary: Plans and directs accounting activities within a finance department or division of an organization by performing the following duties, personally or through subordinate supervisors. Knowledge and Skills Requirements: A chief accountant must be able to meet the demands of an ever-changing business environment. One must have a critical mind in identifying and defining clearly the problem, evaluating different ideas or ways of solving the problem from the data gathered, and making a choice on which one is the best among the different ideas evaluated. Chief accountants should also have extensive knowledge in fast-paced technologies and accounting programs and possess excellent mathematical skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, time management and organizational skills, problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as leadership and administrative skills. Duties:
- Perform financial analysis and reporting to management as needed.
- Perform month-end accounting activities such as reconciliations and journal entries.
- Coordinate with finance team to complete assigned accounting tasks within deadlines.
- Evaluate computerized accounting systems and provide recommendations to IT team for performance improvements.
- Generate financial reports and statements to Managers for review.
- Analyze financial discrepancies and recommend effective resolutions.
- Monitor expenditures, analyze revenues and determine budget variances and report the same to management.
- Respond to accounting inquiries from management in a timely fashion.
- Provide guidance to other Accountants when needed.
- Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for assigned accounts.
- Assist in auditing activities by providing necessary information and preparing requested documentation.
- Monitor and record financial transactions according to company policies and regulations.
- Review and recommend changes to existing accounting procedures.
- Assist in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll.
- Supervise and participate in the preparation of various financial statements and reports.
- Direct the installation and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and expenditures.
- Direct the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property and operating expenses, and insurance records.
- Direct and participate in cost analyses and rate studies.
- Prepare statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.
- Direct internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
- Establish system controls for new financial systems and develop procedures to improve existing systems.
- Coordinate preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
- Review financial statements with management personnel.
- Direct the installation and maintenance of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property and other related procedures and controls.
