Who You'll Work With You will be part of our Asia South Office (ASO) Commercial Desk team and will be based out of our Malaysia office. The ASO Commercial Desk closely collaborates with the Engagement CFOs, Partners and Client Service teams (CSTs), the Clients, as well as other Finance functions or other departments across various McKinsey offices. Your impact within our firm You will provide highly technical analytical support on Engagement Life Cycle management in Southeast Asia offices across different functions on a broad range of areas. The following are the specific responsibilities of the role:
- Provide centralized support to Engagement CFOs, CSTs on the Engagement Life Cycle (ELC)
- Support Engagement CFOs/CST Leadership in RfP, pricing, budgeting and planning of an engagement
- Review engagement set-up, and ensure compliances with firm’s policies & local tax compliance, prior to the start of the project
- Review contract commercial terms, navigate CST through any exception approval process
- Manage a portfolio of WIPs on monthly basis, work to resolve any discrepancies, ensure that accounting entries and adjustments are performed in a timely manner, by month-end close and plays a pivotal role with all stakeholders
- Collaborate with client’s procurement and finance team on the deliverables acceptance process, resolve any issues that may arises/provide impact calculation and reconciliations to enable billings
- Monitor and analyze billing and collection aging; work with Engagement CFO/Engagement Directors to ensure invoices are sent on schedule, AR collected on time and follow-up on outstanding ARs with clients as necessary
- Track non-standard arrangements, ensure proper accounting of revenues and reserves, escalate any high-risk situations
- Ensure compliance with global revenue policies and US GAAP
- Work closely with ASO Finance Leadership to implement policies and procedures across six Southeast Asia offices
- Assist both local Finance teams and Corporate Tax team with the ELC aspects of internal / local statutory / tax / ad-hoc state audits
- Take on other ad-hoc responsibilities that may be assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance, or a certified accountant (ACCA, CIMA,CPA, CA) equivalent
- 5+ years in finance field or relevant experiences in a similar role and environment (experience in supporting management and leadership by providing insights, analysis and financial results)
- Proactive, self-motivated, “can-do attitude” and result-oriented with high level of integrity
- Strong command in English and Bahasa Melayu language in both oral and written communications
- Proficiency in MS Office - Excel, Word and Power Point
- Knowledge in SAP is an added advantage
- Excellent in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills; data visualization skills would be an added advantage
- Strong stakeholder management and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience working directly with senior leadership within the organization; and in a multinational/highly-matrixed professional services environment would be an added advantage
