Mechanical engineering firm is seeking Mechanical Project Manager to join their growing operations with experience across market sectors including large commercial, residential and institutional projects ranging $50m - $250m in Vancouver BC. This position provides the opportunity to work with a truly innovative and passionate team. Salary range is $90,000 - $120,000. Responsibilities of Mechanical Project Manager:
Perform engineering load calculations, equipment sizing and selection for HVAC, hydronics and plumbing systems
Mechanical Project Manager will play a key role in our design division. Responsible for the execution of projects from design through to construction
Ensure all standards and codes are implemented and you will be responsible for meeting and exceeding client expectations while continuously improving the project bottom line
The role requires design experience and capabilities to work alongside the existing Vancouver team
Building sustainable relationships with clients through successful project delivery will be critical for representing the brand, drive successful project outcomes, reduce risks, ensure adherence to policy & codes
Create and maintain project resources for the design team
Support the recruitment, onboarding, mentoring and training of junior design staff
Manage projects to achieve client satisfaction and profitability targets
Be responsible for the complete design and project management of smaller projects under the guidance of the Mechanical Design Manager
Prepare written reports as required including schematic design/ design development reports and feasibility studies
Prepare book specifications and other tender documentation
Liaise with equipment suppliers, vendors and manufacturers
Coordinate with other consultants
Attend contractor walkthroughs during the tender period as required by the client
Be responsible for contract administration including issuance of site instructions, review of shop drawings, attendance at regularly scheduled site inspections and production of field review reports
Assist the management team in areas of business development, sales and marketing, team personnel, technical design and related activities
Attend design/ construction meetings during a project
Act as the principle liaison with selected clients or major projects
Prepare workloads and aid in scheduling tasks and allocating team resources
Ensure quality control and quality assurance by following company QA/ QC guidelines and procedures
Stay up to date with current building code and technologies and arrange training where necessary
Coordinate with the energy modeling department in liaising with the design team
Promote the company brand and seek out new work, clients and relationships at every opportunity
Requirements of Mechanical Project Manager:
Mechanical Project Manager will have minimum 5+ years of experience in the fields of HVAC, hydronics, refrigeration and plumbing
Solid analytical skills and attention to detail
Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals
Working knowledge of the design of mechanical building systems and drawing preparation for commercial, mixed-use and residential developments
Technically relevant college certificate or university degree
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency using MSOffice suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Proficiency using AutoCAD software
REVIT 3D experience desirable
Familiarity with HVAC load calculations for buildings
Compensation:
Salary range: $90k-120k
