System Installation and Configuration:
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and server environments (e.g., Windows, Linux, or macOS).
- Set up and configure hardware, including servers, workstations, network equipment, and storage devices.
Network Management:
- Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Ensure reliable and secure network connectivity for users, both on-site and remotely.
- Monitor network traffic and address any issues related to connectivity or bandwidth.
System Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
- Continuously monitor system and network performance (e.g., CPU, memory usage, disk space).
- Perform regular system diagnostics and take corrective actions to optimize performance and uptime.
Security Management:
- Implement and maintain security measures, such as firewalls, encryption, and access controls.
- Regularly apply software updates, security patches, and antivirus software.
- Monitor security logs and respond to potential threats or vulnerabilities.
Backup and Recovery:
- Establish and manage backup strategies for systems, data, and critical applications.
- Regularly test backup systems and ensure quick recovery procedures in case of data loss or system failure.
User Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide support for end users regarding hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system, application, and network problems in a timely manner.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control systems.
Skills
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, Unix).
- Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs).
- Familiarity with cloud computing and virtualized environments (e.g., AWS, VMware, Hyper-V).
- Strong understanding of security tools, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Experience with database management (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL).
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC)).
- Experience in a similar IT systems administration or support role (usually 5+ years).
