Your role
The Delta Group Base Camp cadet program is designed to acclimatise students of engineering or a related discipline to the realities of site work and the rewarding career that lies in front of them. Successful applicants will be offered a paid cadetship with Delta Group, involving a 12-week full-time work program or a carefully structured part-time work program – and real-world, “boots-on-the-ground” experience. Thanks to the work Delta Group delivers no job is ever the same. From major infrastructure works to boutique developments, their people take pride in designing and delivering complex programmes for blue-chip clients on high-profile projects. As a Cadet, you’ll have the opportunity to take the theories you’re studying and apply them on fully operational project sites. Each Cadet will be assigned an experienced Delta Group Project Engineer or Project Manager as their mentor, with a focus on fulfilling core day-to-day responsibilities:- Quality Management: A commitment to quality (and high-quality outcomes) means the work they do – on and off-site – is delivered on time, on budget and without incident. It also means they meet or exceed the expectations of clients, colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders.
- Safety Management: They operate in the highest-risk sector of what is already one of Australia’s highest-risk industries. It is their most important business practice and they demand visible leadership at every stage of a project and from everyone involved.
- Environmental Management: Wherever possible, they are committed to eliminating environmental harm from their operations. Responsible procedures and practices are integrated across all operations and they strive to exceed the demands and expectations of not just their clients, but communities in which they work.
- Programming & Sequencing: With so many sites or project-specific variables outside of their control, effective time management and problem-solving capabilities are mandatory. Experience is key, which is why you will spend much more time onsite than you do in the office.
- Cost Controls & Tracking: Commercial acumen is the ability to recognise how different actions taken or decisions made throughout a project lifecycle can impact profitability and cash flow. From claims and variations to budgeting and forecasting – it is imperative you understand how to track and control the financial performance of your projects.
- Materials Solution Management: Delta Group is at the forefront of 21st-century treatments and technologies that reduce reliance on finite virgin construction materials by turning C&D waste streams into high-quality, high value and custom-engineered building materials.
