Assistant/Associate Professor- Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Nursing

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in neonatal and pediatric intensive care nursing.Develop and maintain an active research program in the field.Mentor and advise nursing students.Participate in curriculum development and program evaluation.Engage in service activities within the university and the broader community.Collaborate with healthcare institutions to enhance clinical practice and education.Reporting to the Department Head, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, delivery, and evaluation of a broad range of courses in nursing, including high intensity neonatal and pediatric care. S/he will evaluate student progress and manage the resources of the learning environment. The successful candidate will liaise with industry and other educational institutions; participate in industry advisory committees, and coordinate, manage and control projects within the specified program area. Faculty members will keep course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes and engage in instructional development/improvement plans. All employees are expected to contribute to professional and community life within the University and beyond.QualificationsEducation and Experience RequirementsFaculty members will be placed in the appropriate rank based on their education and experience. The broad criteria are noted below.EducationA PhD or Doctorate in Nursing, or in a related health field. Those whose PhD or Doctorate is not in nursing must hold an undergraduate or graduate degree in nursing.All candidates must hold registration as a registered nurse and be in good standing with the regulatory body.ExperienceCurrent RN license and eligibility for licensure in Qatar.Demonstrated teaching and clinical expertise in neonatal and pediatric intensive care nursing.Demonstrated record of academic experience and nursing practice.Experience in teaching nursing at a post-secondary institution.A minimum of five (5) years full-time equivalent recent clinical practice experience; preference will be given to candidates who have clinical nursing practice in high intensity neonatal care.Demonstrated competence with curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation.Demonstrated use of diverse and current teaching approaches in the classroom and for practice experiences including the laboratory, simulation, and practicums.Demonstrated ability to use a variety of educational technology and platforms.Demonstrated academic and information literacy skills.Consideration will be given to candidates who have mentored/preceptored nursing students during practice practicums and/or have a minimum of eight (8) years full-time equivalent of clinical nursing experience.Scholarship and ResearchDemonstrated accomplishment in advancement or contributions to health-related knowledge through applied research and publication and knowledge dissemination.Preference given to candidates with demonstrated contribution to curriculum development and to teaching and learning.Other required skillsCommitment to applied and experiential learning as a pedagogy and a key feature of UDST's mandate.Ability to design, develop, deliver, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in program outcomes.Digital literacy and demonstrated fluency in technology systems, and an ability to model and facilitate use of current and emerging digital tools to support research and learning.Demonstrated ability to develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable students to be active participants in their own learning.Commitment to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession through self-driven continuous professional development and life-long learning.Effective oral and written communication skills.Collaborative and collegial spirit and a demonstrated ability to establish rapport with learners, colleagues, sponsor-employers, and members of the community.Experience in leadership and innovation in technology-based projects.
