Get to Know the Team You will be part of the Payment & Loyalty team, working on exciting products - GrabPay, PayLater by Grab, GrabRewards with external partners and internal stakeholders in a fun and collaborative environment. Get to Know the Role We are looking for a passionate Business Development Specialist to join our commercial team. The executive's responsibilities include managing Channel Partner [CP] for online & in-store payments, identifying potential payment partnerships and acquiring new key merchants to meet sales targets. To be a successful Business Development Specialist you are inspired to drive sales growth & manage external partners. A top-notch Business Development Specialist should be. You will report to the Head, Merchants - Payment & Loyalty and working onsite in Petaling Jaya. The Critical Tasks You Will Perform:
- Strategic Development & Execution: Formulate and implement strategies to identify, pitch, and secure new merchant acquisition and partnerships for GrabPay and PayLater.
- Negotiation & Onboarding: Lead negotiations with prospective merchants and manage the onboarding process, ensuring a seamless integration of GrabPay and PayLater services.
- Channel Partner Management: Oversee and nurture relationships with channel partners to drive merchant acquisition efforts.
- Training & Development: Serve as the primary business owner for training merchants on GrabPay and PayLater solutions upon activation.
- Performance & Growth: Drive performance by exceeding sales KPIs related to merchant acquisition and retention, channel partner management, and assisting in project execution.
- Field Engagement: Stay actively engaged with the field to identify new business opportunities and directly engage with potential partners.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Account Managers and Sales Operations, to enhance post-sales engagement and streamline onboarding processes.
- Technical Familiarity: Utilize knowledge of payment integrations, including offline QR and online eCommerce payment systems, to support merchant integration.
- System Enhancement: Continuously identify gaps and opportunities, plan and lead projects to improve internal processes to ensure high efficacy.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management/Finance/Banking/ OR other related fields.
- With proven records of at least 3 years of experience in Sales, Business Development & Partnerships with great understanding of payment/FinTech market landscape and competitive environment.
- Client engagement and business development with a network is crucial for the role.
- Natural flair of inter and intra-personal skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills in English, and in Malay and Mandarin as an added advantage.
- Conflict resolution skills to manage both internal and external stakeholders on deliverables scopes.
- Individual who has demonstrated credentials and experiences to work well in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) environment; with a deep desire to excel and develop a career in a fast-growing tech company
