Purpose: This position supervises and oversees daily plant chemical activity in order to ensure and achieve operational targets with safety, quality, and within the strict Environmental and contractual limits. Development of the short and long-term chemical operational strategy for the plant and development of a capable team. Managing day-to-day chemical operation of the plant safely and efficiently, in accordance with good utility practices, instructions, the company rules and procedures, OEM guidelines, HSE guidelines, environmental and contractual requirements.

Education: BSC / MSC in Applied Chemistry or BE Chemical

Knowledge: Handling of Chemical, testing of chemical properties, understanding of MSDS, Understanding of SAP.

Experience: 3 to 6 Years of professional experience

Area of Responsibilities:

Site Operations Management & Control:

Oversees the workings of the site staff and ensures support to all site personnel (including general administration, time management, etc.)

Assures compliance to plant SOPs and ensures maintenance of service levels during activities.

Closely monitor that HSE rules are followed by each and every personnel during Chemicals handling.

Ensures that Chemical levels are updated as per plant needs.

Understands special requirements of technical staff and provides the same through appropriate means.

Generates notifications via SAP for maintenance issues and keeps a close follow-up to get them resolved at the earliest possible time to avoid any failure causing production loss.

Chemicals Consumption Control Data as per Mass Balance:

Receives details of chemicals stock levels and maintains on a daily basis.

Estimates plant needs of chemicals for planning stock maintenance.

Maintains sufficient stock level of each chemical in the department through debit note.

Preparation of solution in storage tanks where needed.

Process Improvement & Awareness:

Notices & reports lessons learned from previous projects to line manager.

Reviews control procedures of upcoming projects and provides input for improvement of the same.

Monitors operations of ongoing projects and highlights control weaknesses; liaises with relevant personnel and develops strategies for mitigation of the same.

Ensures to make staff aware of safety measures and to use appropriate safety equipment.

Mention the gaps in following standard plant SOPs after the activity to make them implemented for future jobs.

People Management:

Provides effective motivation to direct reports; ensures similarity among team members with regards to learning and growth opportunities.

Helps create a conducive working environment to build and sustain a committed team.

Creates a sense of purpose and accountability among team members; delegates responsibilities to direct reports.
