Job title: Intensivist/Critical Care Specialist

Job description:

Job Summary: Responsible to provide the diagnosis, treatment and support of critically ill and injured patients, particularly trauma victims and patients with multiple organ dysfunction.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide patient support for hemodynamic instability (hypertension/hypotension), airway or respiratory compromise (such as ventilator support), acute renal failure, potentially lethal cardiac dysrhythmias, and frequently the cumulative effects of multiple organ system failure.

Conduct rounds and supervise treatment of inpatients as well as screening and examination of outpatients.

Organize, monitor, and maintain the clinical services provided within the department to achieve the highest possible level of patient care with optimum utilization of available resources.

Assume direct responsibility for patients under medical attendance in the assigned unit.

Participate in various committees for upgrading services and organization of work within and outside the hospital.

Actively participate in planning and implementation of department development plans and different manpower training programs for medical, technical, and nursing staff in the area of expertise.

Participate in scheduling of on-call duties and provide on-call services.

Participate in assessment and updating of drug, medical supply and equipment needs.

Write, complete, and approve medical reports for patients.

Participate in research activities.

Perform special procedures as privileged.

Adhere to policies, guidelines, plans, and programs of the organization.

Perform other duties as assigned/directed by the Head of the department and approved by management.

Job Knowledge & Skills:

Current and in good standing medical license to practice in country of residence.

Provide high quality care to patients in this area of medicine.

Communication skills to explain complex medical information, procedures, and answer questions to patients and their families.

Technical skills to perform procedures and analyze data.

Technical skills to interpret medical records, scan patient data, and interpret test results.

Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Perfect vision and visuospatial awareness.

Supervise fellows, staff/assistant physicians, and residents.

The ability to work well alone and within a team.

ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.

Job Experience: 5 years of experience in a similar role, 2 years in GCC (preferred).
