Description POSITION SUMMARY: Senior Jigsaw Clinicians offer short-term therapeutic supports to young people aged 12-25 years who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. This usually involves 1:1 work with the young person and sometimes it can include other family members as well. Our senior clinicians come from diverse professional backgrounds encompassing qualifications in social work, occupational therapy, mental health nursing, clinical/counselling/educational psychology, and psychotherapy, and they work as part of transdisciplinary teams based at one of our 15 services across the country. All of our clinicians share the same scope of practice to support the goals of our young people in a collaborative, respectful, and evidence-informed manner while drawing on their own unique training, experience, and skills. As senior members of the clinical team, Senior Jigsaw Clinicians assume leadership responsibilities, as appropriate, and work closely with the Clinical Manager in ensuring safe, effective, high quality service provision. Additionally, senior clinicians are involved in health promotion, youth engagement, service development, and advocacy. All of our senior clinicians benefit from frequent and supportive clinical supervision alongside a comprehensive programme of continuing professional development. This is a full time, permanent position based in our service in North Fingal (Balbriggan/Swords). PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: To undertake initial mental health assessments with young people focusing on both strengths and difficulties. To provide evidence informed brief, therapeutic interventions to young people. To conduct risk assessments and implement risk management plans as appropriate. To deputise for the Clinical Manager in their absence and/or as required. To provide clinical consultation/guidance and, where required, clinical supervision to Jigsaw Clinicians. To assume leadership responsibilities, as required, e.g. chair case management meetings, facilitate group supervision, review and coordinate referrals, provide support and guidance to clinicians etc. To actively participate in clinical supervision and line management meetings. To work in accordance with Jigsaw Policies, Procedures and Guidelines. To participate in case management meetings, team meetings and other meetings as deemed necessary. To liaise and consult with other professionals in supporting the mental health of young people attending Jigsaw. To fulfil obligations as per the Children First Act 2015 and comply with the Jigsaw Child Protection and Welfare policy. To maintain accurate, confidential records of practice using the Jigsaw Data System and to cooperate with reporting requirements as per the Jigsaw Record Keeping Policy. To comply with responsibilities under the Data Protection Acts 1988, 2003 & 2018 (GDPR). To share information with the Jigsaw Clinical Manager, Service Manager, Jigsaw team and other stakeholders, as appropriate, in accordance with good practice. To contribute to research, audit and evaluation of the service as required. To maintain professional and personal boundaries. To engage in outreach work as required. To demonstrate an open and flexible attitude to work at all times. Additional responsibilities, reflective of the senior nature of this post, may be agreed by the Clinical Manager and Service Manager. Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Essential Criteria: Qualifications & Registration/Accreditation - It is essential that you meet one of the below: Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychology. Candidates qualified overseas must provide evidence of validation by the Department of Health at the time of application. Mental Health Nurse registered with An Bord Altranais. Social Worker registered with CORU. Occupational Therapist registered with CORU. Psychotherapist accredited by the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) or the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) Essential Criteria: Experience A minimum of three years' full time, or equivalent, post qualification/accreditation experience* working in health and social care, therapeutic or related organisational settings to support people with their mental health needs. *For Psychologists, a minimum of one year of this experience must be spent in post qualification experience as professional psychologist. Experience of applying core therapeutic mental health skills; assessment (including risk assessment), formulation, providing evidence informed therapeutic interventions and evaluation. Desirable Criteria: Experience working therapeutically with young people aged 12-25 years. Experience of /training in delivering evidence informed mental health interventions, e.g. brief solution focused therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy etc. Experience of providing clinical supervision / support to professionals/ students. Experience of working in a leadership role or assuming leadership for specific projects /responsibilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to reflect on practice in order to facilitate personal learning, professional development and service improvement. Effective presentation and facilitation skills including the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner. Strong time management skills. An ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise competing demands. Capacity to work co-operatively as part of a team. Competent in MS office, Office 365, Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Factors taken into account in determining an appropriate scale include the candidate's knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications relevant to the job. The salary range for this role will be €49,000 - €69,160.
