Roles and Responsibilities

1. Customer Service Excellence
  1. Guest Interaction : Food & Beverage Associates need to be personable and approachable, creating a welcoming environment for customers. They should ensure guests have an enjoyable dining experience by providing attentive, friendly service.
  2. Problem-Solving : Addressing customer complaints or concerns (e.g., food quality issues, dietary preferences, long wait times) in a professional and efficient manner is essential.
  3. Handling Special Requests : Understanding and accommodating special requests, such as dietary restrictions (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free, allergies) and preferences.
2. Knowledge of Food and Beverage Menus
  1. Menu Familiarity : Having a comprehensive understanding of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and special dishes, to make accurate recommendations and answer customer questions.
  2. Beverage Knowledge : Knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including wines, cocktails, coffees, and specialty drinks, to suggest pairings and upsell products.
  3. Upselling Skills : Encouraging guests to order additional items, such as appetizers, desserts, or premium beverages, to enhance their dining experience and increase sales.
3. Communication Skills
  1. Clear and Effective Communication : Being able to communicate customer orders clearly and efficiently to the kitchen and bar staff.
  2. Team Collaboration : Working closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other food & beverage associates to ensure smooth service and effective team coordination.
  3. Active Listening : Paying attention to customer preferences and feedback to ensure their needs are met throughout the dining experience.
4. Multitasking and Time Management
  1. Managing Multiple Orders : Being able to handle multiple orders at once without compromising service quality or speed. This may include taking orders, serving food and drinks, refilling beverages, or attending to additional customer needs.
  2. Efficient Service : Serving food and drinks promptly, managing different tasks such as clearing tables, preparing beverages, or cleaning up, while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  3. Prioritization : Understanding when certain tasks need to take precedence, such as delivering food or drinks promptly or managing guest requests in a timely manner.
5. Attention to Detail
  1. Accuracy in Orders : Ensuring that customer orders are correct, whether it's specific food requests or drink preferences.
  2. Food Presentation : Ensuring that food is served to the guest in an aesthetically pleasing manner and in line with the establishment's standards.
  3. Tidiness and Cleanliness : Maintaining clean and well-set tables, organized dining areas, and sanitized utensils.

Desired Candidate Profile

  1. Supports the smooth running of the food & beverage department, where all aspects of the guest food & beverage service experience are delivered to the highest levels.
  2. Works as part of a team that maximizes guest satisfaction and comfort, delivering a positive and timely response to guest enquiries.
  3. Takes responsibility for the duties and tasks assigned to the role, ensuring that all work is carried out in a timely and professional manner.
  4. Delivers on departmental plans and objectives, where hotel initiatives & targets are achieved.
  5. Collaborates with their immediate report, ensuring that costs and inventory are controlled, that productivity and performance levels are attained.
  6. Builds and maintains effective working relationships whilst promoting the company culture and values.
  7. Ensures adherence and compliance to all legislation where due diligence requirements and best practice activities are planned, delivered and documented for internal and external audit, performing follow-up as required.
Requirements of the Server/Waiter/Waitress:
  1. Experience in food & beverage service beneficial but not essential.
  2. Hands-on approach with a can-do work style.
  3. Commitment to delivering exceptional guest service with a passion for the hospitality industry.
  4. Ability to find creative solutions taking ownership for duties and tasks assigned.
  5. Personal integrity, with the ability to work in an environment that demands excellence.
  6. Experience of working with IT systems on various platforms.
  7. Strong communication skills.
