Huri Te Ao The School of Future Environments at AUT, established in 2020, is AUT's newest school. The School is strongly committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Mātauranga Māori. We aspire to shape our future environments by responding to Te Ao Māori, Moana-nui-a-Kiwa identity and the multi-cultural diversity of Aotearoa New Zealand. Our mission is to develop transformative, ecologically-oriented programmes in Architecture, Civil, Construction and Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Creative Technologies, and Ecological Urbanism, as well as to make transdisciplinary connections across those fields. As Aotearoa New Zealand's only university of technology, we are optimistic about the positive contribution that these programmes, and our graduates, can make to the global climate emergency, social justice and the complex challenges of the 21st century. The School is based in Te Ara Auaha the Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies, a diverse community of creative, technical, scientific and entrepreneurial thinkers, makers, researchers, and doers, working in an environment designed to foster imagination and innovation. We invite applications from academics and practitioners in Built Environment, Construction, or related disciplines who have the ambition, courage, and expertise to reimagine how we design and build the environments in which we live, work and play. A key factor in the selection process will be a demonstrable interest in AI and the digital transformation of the construction industry, combined with nature-based solutions and a (re-)integration of intuitive human cultural factors in complex construction environments. For positions at Senior Lecturer and above, we would expect candidates to be able to demonstrate the experience and ability to lead and manage academic teams in a dynamic institutional environment. We currently seek expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Construction Management for "Construction 5.0" environments
  • Design Management of complex design processes
In addition, you will be expected to:
  • Be committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Be able to deliver high-quality education that meets the needs of students, industry, and professional groups
  • Inspire and support student achievement
  • Develop a strong programme of applied research
  • Contribute to ongoing curriculum development
  • Have effective communication skills, and a demonstrable commitment to collaboration and working in a team.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant Built Environment discipline. While there will be an expectation to teach in our undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in Civil, Construction, and Architectural Engineering, and Project Management, we are also very keen to hear from people who can advance research and practice across the wider School. Appointments will be made at a level appropriate to qualifications and experience and can commence at a mutually agreeable date. Applications for permanent part-time or fractional positions will also be considered. For an informal conversation about the opportunities afforded by Huri Te Ao The School of Future Environments, please feel free to contact the Deputy Head of School: Associate Professor Nicola Naismith +64 21 0289 3296, nicola.naismith@aut.ac.nz Salary: Commensurate with relevant experience and skills and aligned with the appropriate step in AUT's academic pay scales (Senior Lecturer $109,051 - $128,559; Associate Professor $142,835 - $165,369; Professor: $156,354 - $201,425). Closing date for applications: 19 January 2025 at 10.30pm. Please note due to the summer break period any queries received after 12 December will be responded to from 13 January. Reference: 90747 At AUT we strive to be a place where people love to work and learn. We are committed to te Tiriti, excellence and inclusivity and aspire to be the University of choice for Māori and Pacific communities. Please note that all applications must be submitted through the online application process. For further information, please send us an enquiry here or call 921 9499. Please note we are happy to answer your questions but we do not accept applications by email. You will need to apply through the standard registration process. #J-18808-Ljbffr
