Financial Specialist - Transact Module

We are seeking an experienced accountant with a background in the fruit export industry to play a pivotal role in the development and optimisation of our financial (Transact) module. This role combines financial acumen with industry-specific knowledge to ensure our transaction processes are efficient, compliant, and tailored to the unique requirements of the fresh produce industry. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial skills to enhance transaction reconciliation, invoicing, and regulatory compliance within our platform. Experience with product management is a bonus.
OBJECTIVES (main duties and responsibilities)
- Product Development Strategy: Collaborate with development and product teams to embed accurate, efficient financial workflows in the transact module, ensuring alignment with accounting best practices and export industry regulations.
- User-Centred Design: Conduct market and user research to identify pain points and requirements within financial procedures and workflows of fruit trade, refining the module to deliver seamless, automated workflows for key users.
- Financial Operations Oversight: Leverage industry-specific accounting knowledge to build robust features for financial reconciliation, invoicing, account sales and accounts receivable/payable management within the module.
- Internal Controls and Auditing: Establish and monitor internal controls, optimising compliance features to support audit readiness and mitigate financial risks.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Serve as a point of contact for stakeholders, including export agents, service providers, and regulatory bodies, aligning on requirements for financial compliance, documentation, and financial reporting.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Formal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of the fresh produce export process, including export documentation and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has worked for an exporter.
- Analytical and Strategic Thinking: Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to leverage financial and transaction data to make strategic product decisions.
- Attention to Detail: Rigorous attention to detail in documentation, compliance management, and financial reconciliation.
- Technical Familiarity: Experience with ERP/accounting software, data integration, and an understanding of how they support financial product development.
JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in product management, financial operations, or accounting within the fruit exporting or fresh produce industry.
- Solid understanding of key industry terms and standards, such as FBO, PUC, PHC, Incoterms etc.
- Product Management Skills (Bonus): Experience or skills in product management, particularly in module development or financial software, would be advantageous but are not required.
