takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for an Advertising Manager to join our Takealot Group Advertising team in Cape Town. This position reports to the Group Head of Advertising Your responsibilities will include:
- Achieve growth and hit sales targets by successfully managing the advertising sales teams
- Use a data-driven sales approach to track, measure and analyse sales performance
- Design and implement a strategic sales strategy across the retail, marketplace & CRM teams that expand the advertising business’ customer base and improves retention of existing customers
- Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them, understanding their needs and delivering value through Takealot offerings to their businesses.
- Ensure all material and interactions presented to customers are of a world class standard
- Oversee the design and costing of strategic high value campaigns that require customisation by consulting with senior executives
- Engage in executive level discussions with brands and agencies to unlock key advertising opportunities for the Takealot Group
- Accountable for the overall sales performance, understanding core challenges affecting sales performance and implementing holistic changes which measurably remedy the core challenges identified.
- Manage the interrelationships between Divisions (Marketing; Merchandising and Product) to effectively manage the advertising sales function
- Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team
- Own, update and maintain the Takealot Advertising Rate Card
- Identify emerging opportunities and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition
- Work with the advertising product team to build & commercialize bespoke advertising solutions and create improvements/efficiencies to the sales processes through technology.
- Recruit, mentor, coach and performance management sales team leaders and sales representatives.
- In-depth knowledge of the digital advertising space,
- Ability to develop & manage high performing sales people, and drive revenue targets,
- Ability to identify key advertising opportunities and translate these into implementable plans
- Motivated and capable to focus on and hit aggressive growth targets
- Highly proficient commercial management skill set; with a sales focus
- Ability to manage a sales and support team
- Ability to influence teams across various business units
- In-depth understanding of the digital advertising/marketing sales and tools
- Skilled in managing high-value accounts and managing relationships at an executive level
- Strong prioritization skills

- Bachelor’s and preferably a Postgraduate degree or relevant work experience
- A candidate with a proven track record of sales management success
- 5 years’ experience in a sales management role in the advertising/media space, preferably within the digital realm,
- Proven track record of delivering projects
- Experience in an e-commerce environment
- Proven track record of hitting sales targets
- Preferably 5 years’ experience managing a team
