Odyssey Recruitment Global Medical Recruitment – Palmerston North, North Island $220,000 - $220,000 a year Contract, Full time, Permanent 2 months ago , from Odyssey Recruitment Global Medical Recruitment Seeking a consultant emergency physician for a busy general hospital emergency department located in a region with an excellent lifestyle, from scenic hiking spots to great schools. Position Highlights
  • Full time permanent or fixed term employment contract with a leading public sector healthcare organisation
  • Australasian Level 4 ED and regional trauma centre with Tier 2 ACEM accreditation
  • 40 hour working week, shifts plus on call duties
  • join a strong team of Emergency Physicians from New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, USA, Canada, and South Africa, as well as 3 clinical nurse specialists and 3 nurse practitioners responsible for supervising 24 resident medical officers (a mix of registrars and senior house officers) as well as 6th year medical students from the University of Otago.
  • Excellent remuneration package with visa sponsorship, relocation package and study leave allowance and additional benefits
  • ED sees approximately 48,000 adult and paediatric presentations per annum, with an admission rate of around 30%.
  • higher than average trauma workload due to agricultural injuries from the many farms in the area as well as road accidents from the several state highways transecting the region.
  • 24/7 trauma team and acuteservices on-site with the exception of neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and plastic surgery.

  • Medical Degree recognised by WHO
  • FACEM or equivalent specialist qualification in Emergency Medicine
  • A broad generalist experience in emergency medicine with procedural competency
  • ATLS
  • Eligibility for Medical Council of New Zealand registration under the vocational pathway in Emergency Medicine

Remuneration
  • Salary ASMS scale for 40 hour week plus allowances NZD 220,000 - 400,00 PA
  • 6 weeks annual leave
