About the role The School of Health Sciences, Senior Lecturer (Physiotherapy Neurosciences) (1.0 FTE) is the lead in the Neurosciences stream for the Physiotherapy discipline. The primary responsibility is the preparation, coordination, development and delivery of Physiotherapy courses (primarily but not exclusively Neurosciences) within the Program. This includes working with colleagues to ensure quality and relevancy in all areas of the curriculum, student processes including the provision of pastoral care, and providing input in relation to the design, implementation and review of the Physiotherapy program. Additionally, this position will provide opportunity to build research capacity within the School. This role reports to the Discipline Lead of Physiotherapy, working closely with multidisciplinary academics across all campuses. Key Responsibilities
  • Initiation, development and review of course material.
  • Coordination of National Courses.
  • The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars.
  • The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and studio sessions.
  • Supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects.
  • The conduct of research aligned to the University’s Research Strategic Plan.
  • Significant role in research projects including, where appropriate, leadership of a research team.
  • Consultation with students.
  • Broad administrative functions.
  • Marking and assessment.
  • Attendance at departmental and/or faculty meetings and a major role in planning or committee work.
  • Comply with all other reasonable training and duties as identified by the line manager (or delegate).
  • Comply with University policies and procedures in all aspects of their work and conduct.
Qualifications, skills & experience
  • Possession of doctoral qualification in an area of physiotherapy (or equivalent).
  • Significant professional clinical experience and relevant post graduate qualifications in Physiotherapy practice for the Neurosciences.
  • Physiotherapist currently registered to practice with the Physiotherapy Registration Board of Australia.
  • Experience in educational material/curriculum development and delivery in a variety of formats, which could include entry-level, postgraduate or professional level education.
  • The capacity to provide leadership in curriculum development and pedagogical innovation.
  • Skilled communicator with in-depth ability to prioritise work tasks and capability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
