A robotics, satellite systems and geointelligence pioneer with a 55-year+ story of world firsts and more than 450 missions, MDA Space is a global leader in communications satellites, Earth and space observation, and space exploration and infrastructure.The MDA Space team of more than 3,000 space experts in Canada, the US and the UK has the knowledge and know-how to turn an audacious customer vision into an achievable mission - bringing to bear a one-of-a-kind mix of experience, engineering excellence and wide-eyed wonder that's been in our DNA since day one.We are searching for an AI&T Manufacturing Engineer on our Satellite Systems team at our Montreal office.The Position:The AI&T Manufacturing Engineer is called upon to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to manufacture space products used on state-of-the-art satellites.As part of a dynamic team, the engineer is responsible for inter-program cohesion and the assembly, integration and testing of our space products (AI&T). From the design phase, through assembly, testing (thermal, vibration, electrical, etc.) and up to the acceptance of the products by the customer, he/she ensures the good quality of the product and the documentation throughout the production chain, within the time and cost limits.In addition to monitoring projects, the engineer actively participates in the continuous improvement of the various production departments (electronics, composite, antennas, payloads, supply chain, and testing). Continuous improvement consists of optimizing or automating tasks, selecting, evaluating and qualifying new equipment, implementing corrective actions, and qualifying new processes/products/subcontractors. He/she also contributes to the implementation and monitoring of the Lean Manufacturing philosophy and Design for Manufacturing (DFM). Working in a constantly evolving environment, the manufacturing engineer is recognized as an agent of change within his/her team.Responsibilities:Suggest and implement new technologies such as robots, vision systems, quality control and preventive maintenance tools in collaboration with the engineering and production teams (technology watch)Analyze and validate existing processes, while participating in the design, installation and deployment of new solutionsUsing the tools and ERP, monitor costs and schedulesDevelop and implement optimal working methods, and efficient testing tools and train users appropriatelyParticipate in Technical Overview Boards (TOBs) to ensure production needs are met in the designsRepresent the production team during MRBsMaintain, improve and troubleshoot existing production equipmentDiscussion with the project manager and the client to define the requirementsCommunication with other team members, both internally and externallyAnalyze performance indicators of production cellsQualifications/Requirements:Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent with (5+) years of experienceGood interpersonal skills and ability to work in a teamGood written and oral communication skills in French and EnglishInterest in change and new technologies - Change managementAbility to learn quickly and work under pressureExperience in composite productsKnowledge of satellite productsKnowledge of manufacturing processesKnowledge of surface finishing processesKnowledge of metrologyCreative and innovativeLeadership and good interpersonal skillsInterest in digital transformation and artificial intelligenceExperience in new product integrationExperience in high-volume production.Comments/Special Considerations:Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).We're a dream team of purpose-driven, collaborative and passionate people, and we are constantly looking for others to join #TeamMDA to ignite new and innovative approaches to problem-solving that push us forward to improve life on and above Earth.
