Niruthi offers solutions for Crop Insurance, Crop Yield Estimation, Irrigation Management, Pest/Disease Dynamics, and Public Health.Work Location: HyderabadJob Type: FulltimePosition Overview:We are seeking an experienced Agricultural Entomologist to join our team and play a key role in advancing our efforts in pest management and sustainable agriculture. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of insect biology, behavior, and ecology, as well as expertise in developing and implementing integrated pest management (IPM) strategies. This role involves research, fieldwork, and collaboration with farmers, agricultural scientists, and other stakeholders to protect crops and promote environmental sustainability. Key Responsibilities:Conduct research on the biology, behavior, ecology, and control of agricultural pests affecting crops, both in the lab and the field.Develop and implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies to reduce crop damage while minimizing environmental impact.Identify and monitor harmful insect populations in various crops, and assess potential threats to agricultural productivity.Study the impact of beneficial insects and biological control agents and implement solutions to promote natural pest control.Collaborate with farmers, agronomists, researchers, and government agencies to develop pest management protocols.Collect and analyze data on pest outbreaks and their economic impact, preparing reports and publications on findings.Provide guidance and training to farmers on safe and effective pest management practices, including the use of chemical, biological, and cultural control methods.Stay updated on the latest research in agricultural entomology and pest management, applying innovative techniques to improve agricultural practices.Contribute to research proposals and grant applications for funding support of pest management programs.Promote sustainable agricultural practices and advocate for responsible use of pesticides to protect the environment and public health. Qualifications and Requirements:Master's or PhD in Entomology, Agricultural Science, or a related field.8+ years of experience in agricultural entomology, focusing on pest control and integrated pest management strategies.In-depth knowledge of insect biology, ecology, taxonomy, and pest management techniques.Experience with biological control methods and the use of natural predators or parasites to control pest populations.Proficiency in conducting field research, including pest identification, monitoring, and data collection.Pest Control and Integrated Pest Management skillsLaboratory Skills for analyzing pest behaviorStrong research and analytical abilitiesFamiliarity with agricultural ecosystems, crop production cycles, and the impact of pests on yield and quality.Ability to analyze and interpret data, prepare research reports, and publish findings in scientific journals.Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with farmers, researchers, and agricultural stakeholders.Experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and remote sensing tools for pest monitoring and mapping is a plus.Commitment to promoting sustainable agriculture and environmentally-friendly pest control practices. Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in specific agricultural sectors (e.g., horticulture, field crops, orchards).Knowledge of pesticide regulations and experience in advising on safe pesticide use.Background in extension services or direct engagement with farmers and agricultural communities.Experience with grant writing and securing funding for research projects. What We Offer:Competitive salary and benefits package.Opportunities for professional development and ongoing education.A collaborative and innovative work environment with the chance to impact sustainable agriculture.Access to cutting-edge research tools and technologies.The opportunity to work on projects that address global challenges in pest management and sustainable agriculture. Work Culture at NiruthiAt Niruthi, our inclusive and cooperative culture thrives on the diversity of our team members.
