Russia, Africa and Middle East Eco-Gov EditorBloomberg is looking for a qualified editor to join its Economy and Government team covering Russia, Africa, and the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in journalism and a proven track record of producing high-quality, distinctive, and compelling work. They'll have a focus on economics and markets but will also be able to work across beats ranging from politics and government to energy, finance, climate, equality, and more.The job entails working with a diverse and fascinating group of countries and economies, ranging from Russia at war and under sanctions to oil-producing Gulf states to Israel, Turkey, and major markets in Africa. It will require collaboration with Bloomberg colleagues on teams circling the globe, from Asia to Europe to Africa and the US, to piece together how developments elsewhere impact the region, and how the region can also shape global events.If this sounds like you: You'll work with a team of editors on Bloomberg's Russia, Middle East & Africa team, handling copy from reporters in big bureaus and far-flung outposts. The job requires mentoring and guiding reporters to produce high-quality work, including from locales hostile to impartial and objective journalism. Your main task will be to handle spot economic and government copy quickly, especially for our economic indicators and central bank coverage. You'll be able to handle stories whether presented in a regular story form, in bullet points, or told via charts, while also producing exceptional longer-form enterprise.Increasingly, you'll also be expected to integrate traditional news reporting with Bloomberg media, which includes our magazines, newsletters, QuickTake videos, TV, podcasts, and more. We'll trust you to work well with reporters and other colleagues around the world to deliver stories that look at economics and politics through the prism of business and investment, and to help raise the profile of our coverage of the region. Languages spoken in these countries would be an advantage. The job is based in Dubai due to the location of our teams, but we will consider other bureaus in the MENA region.
