Overview:

Job Title: I/O Cable Plant Engineer Tech II

Location: Doha, Qatar

Job Responsibilities:

Trace Systems is actively recruiting for an I/O Cable Plant Engineer Tech II to support the AFCENT Communications E&I Support Services II contract. The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Delivering, installing, pulling, and testing fiber optic, copper, and coaxial cabling

Working in manholes and conduit ducting systems

Terminating, splicing, testing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic (including fusion splicing), copper, and coaxial cabling

Installing interior fiber, copper, and coaxial cabling

Installing fiber optic modems, multiplex equipment, patch panels, main and intermediate distribution frames, lightning protection, and supporting ground and power connections

Installing cabinets, cable ladder and rack systems, and equipment components in cabinets

Providing access to buried communication cable and digging/chiseling trenches

Installing separate red and black interior signal cable distribution systems, exterior and interior coaxial cable systems, and supporting equipment to interface tactical and commercial cabling systems

Minimum Qualifications:

An Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret Clearance

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English

Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.

General Experience:

Inside Cable Plant: Must have a minimum of three (3) years' experience of inside plant operation and maintenance experience, installation, testing, and repair of telecommunications equipment and systems within the last 10 years.

Outside Cable Plant: Must have a minimum of three (3) years' experience in telecommunications installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of multiple conductors, aerial, underground, and buried multi-purpose communications cable to include coaxial and fiber optic cable.

Specialized Experience:

Must have a minimum of three (3) years' experience working with the following:

Installation of ducts and conduits, pulling cables, and terminating, testing, splicing, and repairing copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling

Installation of outside and interior copper and fiber cabling, fiber optic modems, fiber multiplex equipment, fiber patch panels, analog and digital copper patch panels, main and intermediate distribution frames, lightning protection, and supporting ground and power connections.

Installation of cabinets, cable ladder and rack systems, and equipment components in the cabinets, operating trenching, cable reel trucks, and excavating equipment

Three (3) years practical experience in the maintenance of telephony systems/equipment.

One (1) year practical experience in electronics installation.

Education:

High School diploma or GED, Completion of at least three (3) U.S. Military schools in electronic communications equipment or systems and Grade E-5 or equivalent or Commercial trade school or job training equivalent
