Learn more at www.averydennison.com.Avery Dennison is an equal opportunity employer.We are seeking a skilled, forward-thinking and highly motivated lawyer to partner with and provide proactive legal advice to our Materials Group business in the EMENA region based in our European HQ (Oegstgeest, The Netherlands). In this role, you will work closely with leaders, others in the business, and the Law Department on all legal matters. You will also be responsible for managing outside counsel on specific projects and litigation, and be a key member of the EMENA legal team.This position will report to the Senior Legal Counsel, EMENA for our Materials Group business.Your Mission:Serve as a trusted advisor to the Materials Group EMENA business teams, providing sound, business-focused, and strategic guidance on legal matters to leadership, functional leaders, and others in sales, marketing, R&D, procurement, finance, IT, and HR. Such matters include a wide variety of commercial, legal, regulatory, and compliance issues, including commercial contracts and disputes; the digitalization of products, services, and the workplace; ESG issues; marketing and advertising; information technology; antitrust/competition; product liability and compliance; EHS; and labor and employment.Provide proactive legal support for certain corporate activities in the region, including support of corporate initiatives, corporate contracts, and support to risk management, corporate compliance, values & ethics, information security and technology, human resources, environmental, health & safety, and procurement functions.Identify and effectively communicate (both orally and in writing) risks and legal developments to leadership, functional leaders, and colleagues in the Law Department and work closely with them to provide and implement strategic and pragmatic legal advice.Review and analyze complicated legal issues quickly and effectively, working calmly under pressure to provide timely and appropriate legal advice.Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of complex contracts, including purchase and sale, consulting, and other contracts related to the provision of services (experience with digital service contracts a plus, e.g. SaaS, terms of use, license agreements, service agreements).Support strategic projects and initiatives related to legal, compliance, and/or regulatory matters.Assist in the improvement of legal support processes, templates, and client-facing materials to drive greater internal efficiencies.Develop and deliver training to internal clients on various legal and regulatory topics.Partner with other in-house counsels on a wide variety of issues related to the business.Manage and oversee outside counsel on litigation matters and other strategic projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and managing outside counsel spend.Contribute to a positive working environment within the Legal Department, cultivating an environment that supports diversity, trust, and respect.QualificationsWhat we expect from you! - Your Expertise:Post Graduate Degree in law/ EU law background, as well as being a Member of a Bar association or having passed the Bar exam in a European country.Previous work experience of 7+ years in a top-tier law firm, or within a multinational company with expertise in commercial contracts and corporate law, product compliance and quality-related matters, sustainability-focused regulations, antitrust/competition laws, and labor law.Strong understanding of litigation and dispute resolution, including experience with various court systems, arbitration, mediation, and dispute negotiations.Experience with assessing, advising, and managing regulatory matters to achieve business objectives.Solid project management skills and a good understanding of Enterprise Lean Six Sigma.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English (any other additional European language, such as French, Dutch or German is an advantage).Strong commitment to Avery Dennison's values.Additional InformationWe offer:Attractive salary package.Workplace & work hours flexibility.Structured learning and development / Mentoring program.International environment.Events such as International Women's Day, Earth Day, etc.A growing and welcoming team with good spirit!Being open to every voice, every day, brings our value of diversity to life and makes Avery Dennison a vibrant and engaging place to be.
