The primary duties of the store keeper are various and according to the organization structure. As the head of the store department, the store keeper is entrusted with the following duties and responsibilities:

Receiving Material:The primary duty of the store keeper is to receive materials from the supplier. Upon receipt, the store keeper must ensure that the materials have been sent by the supplier based on the purchase order.

Arranging Materials:The materials received must be arranged properly, with bins allotted to each item.

Preservation of Material:After receipt, materials must be preserved properly to avoid deterioration and loss.

Recording:The store keeper is responsible for recording the receipt and issuing of materials in the respective bin card regularly, maintaining a store ledger and bin cards.

Issuing Material:The store keeper issues materials as per the requisition from production.

Issuing Purchasing Requisition:When stock reaches the ordering level, the store keeper sends a purchase requisition to the purchasing department for fresh purchases.

Supervision:The store keeper must coordinate and supervise the duties of the staff under his control, managing the entire department.
