What is a Business Development Head?
The Business Development Head (BDH) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and expansion efforts of the business development function in areas with limited existing presence. The BDH will lead and mentor a team of Business Development Managers (BDMs), drive business growth, identify and exploit market opportunities, and ensure the achievement of overall business objectives. This role requires a combination of strategic vision, operational excellence, and hands-on leadership to establish and grow the company's presence in the region.
What does a Business Development Head do?
Strategic Leadership & Vision:
Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy tailored to the assigned area, aligning with company goals and regional opportunities.
Identify and prioritize market segments and growth opportunities in the region and devise strategic initiatives to address them.
Lead, mentor, and manage the team of BDMs, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
Foster a high-performance culture within the team, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and individual targets.
Develop an end-to-end on-ground payments ecosystem driven by JazzCash mobile wallets, with a strong network of payment acceptance points and merchant-to-distributor (M2D) payments.
Manage on-ground drives to acquire new customers through franchises, agents, and activations.
Drive the agent channel to ensure cash-in and cash-out servicing for the JazzCash mobile wallet base in the respective region.
Create a M2D payments ecosystem by onboarding local distributors and enabling merchants for M2D payments.
Spearhead efforts to increase the company's market presence and penetration in the remote area.
Conduct detailed market research and analysis to identify gaps, assess potential, and implement targeted strategies.
Relationship Building & Stakeholder Management:
Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, local partners, clients, and industry influencers.
Represent the company at local events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance business visibility and forge new partnerships.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
Oversee the tracking and reporting of sales performance metrics for the remote area, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Provide regular reports and insights to senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
Training & Development:
Identify skill gaps and training needs within the BDM team, and implement development programs to enhance their effectiveness.
Facilitate ongoing learning and professional growth opportunities for team members.
Operational Excellence & Compliance:
Ensure that all business development activities adhere to industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Streamline processes and improve operational efficiency to support effective business development.
Requirements
What are we looking for and what does it require to be Business Development Head at JazzCash?
Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a relevant field preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in business development, strategic planning, or sales management, with a proven track record of leadership and successful market expansion.
Prior experience in managing teams and developing strategies in a remote or challenging environment is highly desirable.
Strong strategic thinking and vision-setting abilities.
Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a focus on driving performance and achieving goals.
Proven expertise in market analysis, business expansion, and relationship management.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Analytical mindset with proficiency in data-driven decision-making.
Adaptability and problem-solving skills in a remote or less-established market setting.
Willingness to relocate to or work in a remote area with limited company presence.
Ability to work independently and manage a team remotely, with occasional travel to corporate headquarters or other locations as needed.
