Director of Data Engineering

Job descriptionWavicle Data Solutions is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Data Engineering to lead and manage our growing Data Engineering team.As a Director, you will be responsible for driving the technical strategy, overseeing complex data projects, and delivering high-quality solutions that support our clients' business goals. This role requires a leader who is passionate about data, cloud technologies, and driving innovation in the data engineering space.Key Responsibilities:Lead, mentor, and manage the Data Engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.Develop and execute the data engineering strategy in alignment with Wavicles overall business objectives and client needs.Drive the design, implementation, and optimization of data pipelines, architectures, and cloud-based data solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP).Oversee large-scale data projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to best practices in data engineering and architecture.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Data Science, Analytics, Product, and Client Services, to deliver end-to-end data solutions.Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering, cloud infrastructure, and data governance.Establish and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders, ensuring satisfaction and long-term partnership success.Manage budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure efficient delivery of services.Ensure the security, scalability, and efficiency of all data solutions.Qualifications:17+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale data solutions using cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.Expertise in modern data architectures, ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).Strong knowledge of SQL, Python, and/or other programming languages commonly used in data engineering.Experience with BI tools and platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake) is a plus.Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineering talent.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including C-level executives.Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in a consulting environment or leading data engineering initiatives for multiple clients.Familiarity with data strategy, data governance, security practices, and regulatory requirements in the data space.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for driving continuous improvement.
