While prior experience in hand therapy and/or splinting is required, this role offers the opportunity to grow and develop under the guidance of our senior occupational therapists.The Pediatric Occupational Therapist will work within our OT Hand & Trauma Service, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team that includes leading Plastic Surgeons, Rheumatologists, and Orthopedic Surgeons. Together, we provide safe, effective, and evidence-based care to children with traumatic hand and upper extremity injuries, complex congenital hand anomalies, burns, and rheumatic diseases. Prior pediatric experience is essential, and experience in hand therapy/splinting/hand trauma is a plus. For any questions about this position, please contact the Manager, Julie Melville, at JMelville@Sidra.org KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:ClinicalDeliver OT-led pediatric hand therapy clinics under the supervision of senior pediatric OTs.Participate in multidisciplinary clinics and services as your knowledge and expertise develop.Professional PracticeProvides documented evidence of own performance and maintenance of skills with appropriate continuing professional development activities consistent with the position.Responsible for maintaining a Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners Continuing Professional Development Profile for licensure.Responsible for maintaining up to date mandatory Life Support Training requirements as directed by MoPH and Sidra (e.g. BLS, AED etc).Participates in service activities that contribute to excellence in outcomes, a positive patient experience and a healthy professional environment.Contributes to the achievement of clinical quality outcome indicators and patient satisfaction.Participates in quality improvement activities linked to occupational therapy strategic priorities and professional practice model.Participates in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication and teamwork. Treats colleagues, patients, and visitors with dignity and respect at all times.Actively welcomes and where appropriate provides support and participates in orientation activities for new staff.Contributes to a learning environment participating and presenting staff education to occupational therapy or clinical peers (eg. Journal club, in-service education etc.)Responsible for completing their supervision agreements, readiness for supervision sessions and maintaining accurate supervision records.Notifies clinical senior in a timely manner of scheduled and non-scheduled staff absence, collaborating with appropriate colleagues to minimize disruption to service and patient care.Follows all organizational policies and procedures.Adheres to Sidra's standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.Adheres to and promotes Sidra's Values.In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS - SELECTION CRITERIAESSENTIALEducation: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational TherapyExperience: 2+ years clinical experience within relevant pediatric specialty area in an acute hospital setting/accredited outpatient healthcare facility. Experience in pediatric plastics, burns, or rheumatology is advantageous.Certification and Licensure: Current registration and license from Country of Origin. Eligible for licensure with the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners.Job Specific Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Therapy principles and practices. Demonstrated ability to apply and integrate knowledge and skills into practice. Demonstrated ability to teach, assess and develop educational materials for staff and patients. Evidence of effective communication skills. Experience in organizing data and generating thorough, accurate, timely reports. Effective team member. Motivated and enthusiastic. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
