Staff Research Engineer - Intelligent Complex Systems

Our team has an immediate 12-month contract opening for an Engineer.Responsibilities:Proactively engage in research activities and identify new opportunities for research in the safety assurance of complex intelligent systems, which include embodied AI systems, robotics and autonomous systems.Present research findings and progress updates to team members and stakeholders; work with cross-functional teams to integrate them into practical applications.Investigate paradigms that can deliver a spectrum of embodied behaviors - from simulated characters to real robots, and from short-horizon, low-level to long-horizon, high-level intelligence.Challenge the status quo, both technical and process.Collaborate with external partners and research institutions to foster innovation and expand the reach of our research.Continuously learn and innovate in the field of intelligent autonomous systems to stay updated with industry trends and advancements.Job requirements:What you'll bring to the team:PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, or a relevant technical field.Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or similar.Familiarity with real-time, multi-process, multi-threaded coding, and command line in Linux.Outstanding engineering skills for rapid research prototyping, open-source release, or production development.Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience with ML/DL, LLMs, multimodal foundation models, or large generative models.2+ years of hands-on experience in R&D of pioneering AI and robotics algorithms, systems.2+ years of experience in areas like perception, SLAM, decision making, motion planning, and control systems.Ability to cut through ambiguity and follow through to task completion despite roadblocks or distractions.
