Summary:
The Journeyman Systems Engineer will work supporting the Department of Defense to support enterprise systems.Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:- Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.
- Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems.
- Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop complex systems.
- Implement and maintain system architecture, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Conduct system integration and testing to validate performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the testing phase to ensure seamless system functionality.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, and test plans.
- Provide documentation to support system implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
- Perform regular system maintenance and updates to ensure security and efficiency.
- Provide technical support for systems, addressing issues and implementing solutions in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:- Deep understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies, including experience with systems design, development, and deployment.
- Strong understanding of computer networks and network security, including experience with network design, implementation, and administration.
- Should be able to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other engineers, stakeholders, and project managers.
- Must have strong communication skills and be able to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions to meet the needs of the organization.
- The rapidly changing nature of technology requires the engineer to have a continuous learning mindset and be comfortable with adapting to new technologies and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent years of experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the field and have a broad understanding of different aspects of IT, including hardware, software, networking, and security.
- Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V, and be able to design and deploy virtualized infrastructure solutions.
- Experience with cloud computing, including experience with cloud services and deployment models, and be able to design and deploy cloud-based solutions.
- Experience with IT service management practices and a deep understanding of enterprise architecture concepts and practices.
- Familiarity with government and industry security standards, such as NIST and FedRAMP, is also desirable for a journeyman systems engineer working in the Department of Defense.
- Top Secret clearance.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or equivalent are a plus.
