Medical Director - Hemodialysis Center

Position Title: Medical Director Department: Hemodialysis Center Location: Port Area, Manila Purpose Statement The Medical Director oversees the overall technical and medical operations of the Dialysis Center, ensuring the highest standards of medical care and compliance with all relevant protocols and regulations. Key Result Areas and Responsibilities

• Oversee the overall technical and medical operations of the Hemodialysis Center (HDC).
• Ensure all medical procedures comply with established norms and standards of medical practice.
• Develop and implement internal medical protocol policies and procedures on dialysis and related treatment, following Department of Health (DOH) standards and in coordination with the Philippine Society of Nephrology (PSN).
• Set education and performance criteria for medical staff, including involvement in hiring.
• Require and oversee a training program for staff for continuous improvement in skills and knowledge.
• Oversee the completion of medical and technical tasks within the center.
• Support and implement Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities.
• Ensure strict compliance with infection control and surveillance practices.
• Ensure a Physician-on-Duty is present during the operating hours of the center.
• Conduct weekly visits and meetings at the center, with proper documentation of these sessions.
• Assure water supply compliance based on standards set by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), ensuring safe water and dialysate mixing, monitoring, and installation of water treatment and distribution systems.
• Attend dialysis management training as mandated by PSN or other accredited institutions.
• Attend monthly board meetings and maintain open 24/7 communication with the Chairman and management.
• Market the dialysis center to colleagues and patients.
• Work on partnerships for the Hemodialysis Samaritan Fund.
• Perform additional functions as needed.

Job Specifications Qualifications/Minimum Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine
• Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration is an advantage

Personal Qualities and Skills

• Licensed by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and certified by the specialty board of the Philippine Society of Nephrology (PSN).
• If a board-certified nephrologist is unavailable, the following qualifications will be prioritized:
• Board-eligible in Nephrology
• Board-certified in Internal Medicine (IM) or Pediatrics, with at least three months of work experience in a DOH-licensed dialysis center
• Board-eligible in IM or Pediatrics, with at least three months of work experience in a DOH-licensed dialysis center
• General practitioner with at least six months of work experience in a DOH-licensed dialysis center
• Non-nephrologists appointed as Medical Director must be trained according to PSN guidelines.
• Updated training in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.

Work Experience

• At least three years of experience managing a dialysis clinic or a Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration.

Equipment Used

• Computer, scanner, printer, copier, telephone, and fax machine.

Working Environment

• Office-Based and Field-Based.
