Job Title : Head of Student Services Unit. Unit name : Student Services Unit. Reports to : Vice President for Academic Affairs. Closing Date : Introduction : Gulf University is a nationally accredited university established by his highness's the prime minister's cabinet decree number issued on the 2nd of September 2001. GU aims to establish itself as a distinguished provider of higher education that will appeal to international, Bahraini, and GCC students who prefer to be educated in a cultural environment acceptable to parents, students, and the labor market alike. SSU at Gulf University focuses on enriching students with pioneer spirits and sustaining a strong bond between GU and its alumni by networking and engaging them in GU activities. SSU has the following operating offices to serve the students:- Internships and Career Development Office.
- Student Support Office.
- Student Counselling Office.
- Alumni Office.
- Infirmary providing first aid.
- Master's degree in any discipline.
- Experience in dealing with students in higher education.
- Experience in managing student activities and support in higher education.
- Bahraini National.
- Specialization in Psychology/Social Science/Sociology.
- Background in social counselling.
- Experience in managing student activities and support services in higher education.
- Experience in collaborating with industry and community.
- Research publication in relevant specialization.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (English & Arabic).
- Ability to lead, manage, and collaborate with a team.
- Ability to create and maintain effective work relationships with staff and students.
- Ability to deal effectively with stress and adapt to emerging issues.
- Ability to work with students from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Leading the Unit in the day-to-day duties and operations in accordance with the Unit's Scope of Work.
- Implementing University policies and procedures at the Unit and its offices.
- Executing decisions of the University Councils.
- Ensuring that the Unit's budget is planned, prepared, implemented, and monitored in accordance with University budgeting policy and procedures.
- Developing the Unit's annual operation/action plan.
- Ensuring students' safety at the University buildings.
- Ensuring consistent provision of services to students and encouraging feedback.
- Coordinating the Unit's work with academic and administrative staff, students, and external partners to facilitate and support students' activities.
- Providing students with induction on University academic policies and procedures, in collaboration with the Unit of A&R.
- Managing events and extracurricular activities of the students aligned with program aims and University Graduate Attributes.
- Coordinating with program leaders in organizing curricular activities for the students.
- Ensuring provision of services and support to special needs students.
- Processing students' complaints and grievances.
- Proposing enhancements of student support and services to senior management as per the suggestions received from feedback surveys.
- Collaborating with the Unit of A&R for "programs promotion and students' attraction" events.
- Coordinating work with the Unit of A&R for the graduation ceremony.
- Overseeing and coordinating with GU Students Council.
- Overseeing the services provided by the infirmary.
- Overseeing and coordinating with GU Alumni Association.
