Gastroenterology Coder (Infusion Experience)

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Gastroenterology Coder with specialized knowledge in coding for infusion services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses, procedures, and treatments provided in gastroenterology practices, with a focus on infusion services. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and compliance regulations. Key Responsibilities:

• Medical Coding: Accurately assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for gastroenterology procedures, diagnoses, and infusion services.
• Chart Review: Review patient charts and medical records to ensure accurate coding and documentation, including for complex gastroenterology and infusion treatments.
• Compliance: Ensure all coding meets CMS and payer guidelines, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations.
• Denial Management: Work with billing and revenue cycle teams to review and resolve coding-related denials and rejections.
• Education and Training: Provide coding education and updates to physicians, nurses, and administrative staff on gastroenterology and infusion coding practices.
• Auditing: Participate in internal and external audits to ensure coding accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Data Entry: Enter codes into billing software accurately and efficiently, ensuring that all services are captured for billing purposes.

• Certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Gastroenterology Coder (CGIC) is required.
• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical coding, with specific experience in gastroenterology and infusion services.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes, particularly related to gastroenterology and infusion procedures.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain coding issues to non-coding staff.

• Experience with Medicare and Medicaid billing and coding.
• Familiarity with gastroenterology procedures such as colonoscopy, endoscopy, and other related treatments.
• Experience with infusion services, including coding for chemotherapy, biologics, and other infusion therapies.
