SAFETY OFFICER Posting Date : 15 Jul 2024 | Close Date :13 Oct 2024 Key Responsibilities
- Monitor work activities to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Inspect and maintain safety equipment and facilities including customer safety regulation.
- Carry out non-conformance reports, deliver them and communicate them to the parties involved and follow up and take the necessary actions to close them.
- Review and update safety documentation, including risk assessments and safety procedures.
- Document safety violations, incidents, and near misses, and report them to management.
- Coordinate risk assessment and prevention actions through meetings with contractors (HIRARC/ JHA).
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and risks.
- Suggest for stoppage of work as long as, at its discretion, it is carried out in conditions of risk for the safety of the workers.
- Investigate incidents and accidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide safety training and awareness programs to employees.
- Review of onsite Emergency Plan and Response action plan and Mock/Fire & Evacuation drills reports
- Liaise with management, employees, and relevant authorities on safety matters.
- Review of Safety Committee meeting minutes and ensuring closure of gaps identified during Safety Committee Meetings.
- Review all External communication with respect to Occupational Health and Safety performance before submission to external bodies.
- Stay updated with the latest safety regulations and best practices.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote a culture of safety.
- Act as Secretary of SHE Committee and coordinate safety committees and meetings.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards set by DOSH, ESH legal & regulations and other Act requirements.
- Provide support and guidance to the Safety Supervisor and other safety personnel.
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental, Health & Safety / Engineering, or equivalent.
- Possess 5 years relevant working experience in Occupational Safety and Health.
- Strong knowledge in safety practices and OSHA regulations & requirements.
- Familiar in working closely with local statutory bodies/authorities (DOSH, NIOSH, CIDB etc.)
- Good knowledge of plant operating equipment (technical) / power plant engineering will be an added advantage.
- Computer literate with MS 365 (such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams) and other common software tools.
- Good written and oral English & Bahasa Malaysia.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- A self-starter who is able to work independently as well as in a team.
- Possess good planning, time management, and follow-up skills.
- Resourceful, proactive and analytical.
- Ability to independently plan and carry out assigned duties diligently.
- Registered Safety & Health Officer (Green Book) with DOSH.
