Position Summary:
- The purpose of the Data Governance Data Analyst in Investment Management would be to play a key role in implementing Data Governance strategy to address real-world business needs utilizing innovative technology solutions
- The Analyst will coordinate data governance activities with Investment Management business teams to establish reliable and trustworthy Investment Data
- The Analyst will communicate and coordinate with key stakeholders across Global Technology, Business, Operations, and other departments
- Be the voice of the customers – understand the business needs and translate them into technical requirements in realizing Voya’s vision of data managed as an asset
- Work with the business partners and stakeholders to define the future products and roadmap for Data Governance
- Help manage the contribution of data stewards by building and compiling a business glossary and metadata repository leveraging Data Governance suite with a focus on increasing efficiency by making it easier to access data meaning and context
- Oversee the definition, enhancement and compliance of data quality standards and business rules using the Data Governance software suite and related tools
- Understand and articulate the technology vision and strategy, ensure that technology solution is successfully aligned with business goals and priorities
- Lead the hands-on implementation of a central process to capture, prioritize and manage data quality issues across the firm including familiarity with data profiling, rulemaking, workflows, and remediation efforts
- Translate Business Functional requirements into Data Governance Requirements, partnering with the data modelers on the modeling solution
- Engage with project teams in terms of understanding the data models and relationships
- Perform data-driven analysis and develop recommendations to guide decision making of data quality standards
- Manage the Product Backlog effectively to maximize the delivered value, including developing and clearly communicating sprint goals and priorities
- Create and clearly articulate product backlog items, ensure that the product backlog is transparent, visible, and understood
- Define user Stories based on customer requirements and synthesize use cases
- Translate business needs into requirements for a technical audience, define acceptance criteria and document features in Business Requirement Documentation (BRD)
- Coordinate and aid testing of new products and features
- Build a strong rapport with the Investment Management teams, Operations personnel, Information Technology teams and Vendor teams
- Interact with personnel across onsite/offshore based out of US and India
- 5-8 years of professional experience in technology or business analysis
- 5+ years of Data/Application/Architecture related work experience
- 2+ years of experience working within the Investment Management (buy-side) and/or Financial Services industry would be a bonus
- Proven experience in a Data Analyst role in an Agile/Scrum software development organization and understanding of the development lifecycle
- Excellent decision-making ability to manage a complex ever changing priority list and resolve conflicts to competing priorities
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in managing functional communication to technical stakeholders and technical communication to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong Analyst with a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
- Ability to embrace, adapt and lead through change, foster effective partnerships, and drive effective collaboration with peers and vendor resources
- Good knowledge of Data Stewardship, Data Management, Data Lineage, Data Quality and Data Monitoring utilizing relevant tools and technologies like Collibra, Ataccama, Informatica etc.
- Strong knowledge of data analysis and data reporting frameworks
- Proficiency in writing SQL queries and data profiling using relevant tools
- Proficiency in MS Project, Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Visio, and PowerPoint
