Senior Software Engineer - Remote (Canada)

RoleKeelvar has an exciting opportunity to join our Engineering Team as a Senior Software Engineer. We are seeking a remote working contractor based in Canada. Ideally you are located on the East coast so you can work with our European team in the morning.Reporting to one of our Engineering Managers, you will be part of a critical group responsible for supporting and building new and existing features with a cross functional team. The successful candidate will join a group of engineers from different backgrounds including; Software Dev, QA, ML, Data Science, UI and Product design.ResponsibilitiesWork in a cross functional development team analysing product feature requests and designing solutions for our new autonomous sourcing product.Develop top quality software with scalability, maintainability, security and reliability in mind.Write unit tests and otherwise ensure the quality of your code.Review colleague's code and designs.Investigate and problem solve issues. Deploy code to and monitor the services you are responsible for.Ensure a quality first approach in all development activities.Collaborate closely with the Product team on new features and workflows. Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to ensure customer centric product vision is delivered.Assist and mentor junior engineers.Contribute to the ongoing success of this fast-paced, rapidly growing and evolving organisation.Understand and deliver on our customer's needs and goals.Your profileStrong proficiency and at least 5 years of experience in software development ideally developing SaaS solutions.Experience of working with CI/CD processes and in an agile, product led environment.Experience designing distributed services which can communicate in a fault-tolerant manner using both RESTful and message-driven APIs.You enjoy coding in Python.You enjoy writing clean and testable code and are familiar with common software design patterns.You have experience of changing and improving established processes. You like to challenge norms.You are self motivated and driven to achieve; you enjoy setting yourself goals and exceeding them.You are a deep thinker, you like to innovate, you like to solve problems creatively and quickly, and are passionate about technology and people.You thrive in an environment of mutual respect, openness and collaboration.
