The Chan Soon-Shiong Family Foundation (CSSFF)-South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) Capacity Development Programme INTERNSHIP (Mechanical Engineering Graduates) LOCATION: Pretoria - CSIR Biomanufacturing Facility DURATION - 12 Months Building a biomanufacturing workforce for Africa Mechanical Engineering graduates The CSSFF-SAMRC Internship Programme is a partnership to train and build the African workforce in biomanufacturing. These opportunities are based at the CSIR's Biomanufacturing facility in Pretoria, offering a conducive environment for growth and development. We are requesting applications fro m candidates with a 4-year degree in mechanical engineering to embark on the CSSFF-SAMRC-CSIR mechanical engineering internship programme to build technical skills to support biomanufacturing, bioprocessing and related disciplines. Candidates will be trained in the maintenance and servicing of equipment, including Upstream and Downstream unit operations, that are integral to support various biomanufacturing technologies. Through this comprehensive training, mechanical engineers will be exposed to hand-on training during biomanufacturing that will equip them with the necessary skills to support the local biotechnology sector. The internships will provide a stipend and cover direct costs associated with the training. Minimum requirements and Eligibility: 4-year degree in mechanical engineering Interest in biopharmaceutical manufacturing/maintenance Computer literate Ability to communicate effectively and write reports Must be a South African citizen (or have permanent residency) Requirements for application: Certified copy of South African identity document Comprehensive curriculum vitae Brief motivation on how this Programme will benefit your career and why you are suited for it (600 words max) Certified copies of qualifications Certified copies of official academic transcripts Written academic reference Application process: All applications must reach the SAMRC by 5 pm SAST: 20 June 2024 Kindly visit the SAMRC website.
