Associate Director - Mechanical, Building Services | Design ConsultancyPosted 4 days agoBuilding Services Design ConsultancyLeading building services consultancy focused on ICI, residential and healthcare projectsOur client is a leading building services consultancy is seeking an Associate Director for their Mechanical team in Toronto and Vancouver offices.You have at least 8 years' experience in mechanical building services. You are a natural leader who thinks outside the box. You're glad to collaborate with your team as you take on challenges and create innovative design solutions. You are eager to establish solid relationships with clients, and use your building services design expertise to help make their next project a success. You thrive when working on a variety of projects and are looking for an opportunity to meet and exceed your career goals.Responsibilities:Prepares, or assists Principal-in-charge with, the development of all system engineering concepts (e.g. design brief) and concept report. Reviews and manages the design in terms of construction budgets.Performs, or arranges for, reviews of existing installation and interprets/manages the impact on the project.Prepares all calculations and selects all equipment. May assign tasks to designer and CAD Technician where appropriate.Fully understands Standards relevant for the project and is able to communicate all requirements to the internal project team, external project team, owner, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.Ensures proper coordination of document with the internal and external project team (architect, interior designer, and other disciplines).Fully understands (construction) project procurement methodologies and is able to recommend or apply such method for the projectResponsible for reviewing all deliverables for the project whether reports, calculations, drawings, or/and specifications. Reviews for completeness and accuracy at various stages of development and as defined by internal total quality management.Promotes and enforces company standards relating to project administration, documentation and processes such as total quality management.Develops and/or improves processes and procedures for Project Management to improve efficiency.Leads the Field Representative teams and delegates site activities to Project Managers when neededPrepares all change notices or reviews change notices issued by contract administration team.Responsible for ensuring tasks are completed both accurately and with the assigned hours/fee.Responds to both technical and financial queries related to the project.Supports the process of accounts receivable.Prepares and continually monitors a schedule of tasks required to complete the project including hours to perform tasks and critical data required for performance.Organizes and attends meetings including client meetings.Actively seeks opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships.Works with the Business Development and Proposals group to respond to proposals. Actively writes proposal responses (RFP).Leads and/or assists in human resources related activities including recruitment and selection, employee development, performance appraisals and employee relations.Qualifications:Possess 8 or more years of project engineering experience in the field of mechanical building services, specifically including tenant experience.Possess P.Eng or C.E.T. designation.Demonstrate a strong leadership qualities and ability to work independentlyDemonstrate the ability to work in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clientsPossess sound communications skills as demonstrated through client and staff relationsDemonstrate experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major projectsKnowledgeable about the provincial mechanical building codesLEED certification / Experience implementing sustainable design (LEED projects) is an assetDemonstrated ability to deliver professional presentations and chair meetings with clients and at industry events.Demonstrated ability to develop lasting relationships with clients that foster strong client ties.Willingness to work over and above regular business hours to deliver projects and develop relationships with clients.Only candidates with authorization to work in Canada will be considered.RegistrationPlease ensure you register your details with Outpost Recruitment when submitting your job application.
