General Manager: Procurement

A leading mining company situated in Durban is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced General Manager: Procurement to join their team. The successful incumbent for this position will be responsible for: Develop procurement strategy, policies and procedures to ensure alignment with overall business objectives. Present the Procurement Strategy to EXCO and drive strategic objectives. Benchmark the strategy and Procurement performance against similar organisations locally and internationally. Drive the Transformation Strategy/ Agenda. Formulation or review of Supply Chain Strategy in alignment with Strategy and Mission Statement. Responsible for providing asset-specific inputs to Divisions' strategies, targets, and business plans, as well as ensuring overall asset priorities and objectives are translated. Influence the Supply Chain category strategies to ensure support of successful execution of asset strategies. Provide strong Supply Chain leadership at an asset level to the Function's Vice President Divisions' Vice Presidents and Heads of Department. Lead and manage the team through the provision of supervision, coaching, development, and active performance management. Oversee establishing and implementing operational procedures that increase productivity, reduce costs and maintain the highest quality within the procurement function. Ensure cross-collaboration between relevant internal and external stakeholders, and act as a single point of contact to resolve complex Supply Chain issues and escalations from the operations. Ensure integration of asset requirements into demand planning, forecasting, commercial planning, and the procurement pipeline. Effective, focused, and proactive Risk Management measures. Foster organisational and operations continuity, and sustainability through competent management of the entire value chain in the Procurement function. Ensure effective cost management measures and capabilities. Key requirements: Relevant B. Com Degree/B Science Degree/Engineering Degree Relevant post-Graduate Honours Degree or equivalent MBA qualification will be an added advantage.
