Diabetes Care Kilkenny Our new manufacturing facility in Kilkenny, opening in 2024, reflects the growing demand for Abbott's global Diabetes Care products. The facility will be a centre for world-class engineering, quality, medical device manufacturing, and other science-based professionals to produce life-changing technologies, including the FreeStyle Libre 3, a system that automatically delivers real-time, up-to-the-minute glucose readings, with the smallest and thinnest wearable glucose sensor that provides unsurpassed 14-day accuracy and optional glucose alarms directly to smartphones. At Abbott in Kilkenny, you can shape your career as you help shape the future of healthcare.  This is how you can make a difference at Abbott: In this role you will be in charge to apply subject matter knowledge in the area of SMT (Surface Mount Technology) Process. You will require capacity to apply skills/knowledge within the context of specific needs or requirements. It will be a very big plus if you can bring experience in developing projects or sites from square one. As an SMT Process Engineer , you will be responsible for:

  • Implementing and maintaining medical device processes.
  • Calculating and organizing all data for complex process flow sheets including instrumentation and control considerations.
  • Ensure proper sequence of operation and prepare specifications and operating instructions for processing equipment.
  • Conduct tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over key parameters.
  • Service, troubleshoot and solve engineering problems with processes or equipment already in operation.
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Improve yields and run rates and decrease rejection rates.
  • Root cause non-conformance issues.
  • Evaluate new components and new processes.
  • Responsible for corrective and preventive actions and investigation management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • A relevant third level qualification in Engineering/Manufacturing/Science.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the Engineering/Manufacturing/ Scientific field.
  • Background in Electronic Engineering and Surface Mount Technology is highly desirable.
  • Familiar with FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ machine qualifications.
