DIRECTOR, PUBLIC AFFAIRS & ENGAGEMENT The Rental Protection Fund Society is a non-profit society whose purposes are to facilitate the acquisition, stabilization, development, renewal, and retention of real estate assets in British Columbia to support affordable rental and cooperative housing. The Society is governed by the Aboriginal Housing Management Association (AHMA), BC Non-Profit Housing Association (BCNPHA) and the Co-operative Housing Federation of BC (CHF BC) - and the Province of British Columbia has provided an initial investment of $500 million to provide capital grants to non-profit housing organizations so they can purchase rental buildings and ownership co-operatives available for sale. THE ROLE: The Director of Fund Delivery & Impact will serve as a member of its Leadership Team, leading and collaborating with both internal & external team members, to shape the voice of the Rental Protection Fund, engaging with and building an understanding of the Fund for a wide variety of stakeholders & partners, and helping to define & communicate the Fund's impact. It is one of the organization's most impactful leadership positions and also plays a vital role in weaving together a comprehensive, thoughtful approach to engaging with a wide variety of audiences & stakeholders essential to the Fund's success - and keeping a cohesive voice as the Fund evolves. The ideal candidate will be a strategic, entrepreneurial and empathetic leader & strong communicator, committed to the mission of the Rental Protection Fund. Public Affairs & Communications Development & implementation of the Rental Protection Fund's corporate communications strategy and builds awareness of the organization's vision, values, and mission, internally and externally. Work with external partners (Government, Housing Sector, PR & others) to develop and execute joint communications initiatives, including announcement minister/media events, issues management & other communications efforts, etc. Grow and influence public awareness & understanding about the Rental Protection Fund and it's model through various modes, including video storytelling and social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn). Write and/or refine engaging content for all communications initiatives. Development and implementation of communications strategies to foster strong relationships with housing sector partners, Investors, and the public at large Development of engaging content, in collaboration with RPF Team Members, for various content, presentations, reports, briefing notes, and communications materials. Define stakeholder and communications channels, including audience mapping, tactical engagement. Proactively position the Fund with audiences and 'own the space'. Ensure positive profile through public engagement and media relations, and integration/cohesion across related corporate identities Support the CEO in representing the fund with government organizations, to understand their interests and demonstrate thefund's capacity to deliver on its mission. Risk assessment and communications advice and support on a range of matters, including sensitive, emerging, and politically sensitive issues. (crisis comms, reputation management, etc.). Strategic Plan & Impact Drive Strategic Planning process, with support of external resources and in collaboration with the RPF Team and Board, including comprehensive stakeholder engagement process Alongside Strategic Planning efforts, and in collaboration with the rest of the Executive Team, development of key Impact Metrics to clearly communicate impact of the Fund and drive investment/engagement/partnerships Strategize and execute comprehensive public affairs strategies aimed at broadening and enriching public understanding of the organization's impact and to advance the Fund's Strategic Plan and other objectives. Play an active role, along with the Director of Fund Delivery & Impact, on all internal reporting, including all Reports to the Province of British Columbia, Board, and Investors In collaboration with Director, Fund Delivery & Impact, leverage data-driven tools to communicate impact of the Rental Protection Fund to a breadth of audiences Engagement & Stewardship Serve as a trusted and effective representative of the Fund across the Community Housing sector and play an active role in ensuring that the fund is ensures that the Fund is widely regarded as a reliable, affordable housing solution by governments, the public and other community stakeholders Deliver meaningful storytelling through cultivation of Non-Profit & Tenant Impact stories Stakeholder engagement via Housing Central partners; collaborations with Education & Capacity Building teams Champion a Provincial Urban, Rural and Northern Indigenous Housing Strategy as a long-term vision for ensuring housing affordability and security for urban Indigenous people in BC. Creative utilization of engaging materials, graphics, content and other tools to distill complex concepts Serve as a primary point of contact for the Fund, and promote confidence in the fund, and the broader non-profit housing sector. Lead outreach initiatives and dialogue, maintaining a presence in the non-profit housing space with key stakeholders, including municipalities and elected officials (local, provincial, and federal). Liaises with partners to ensure alignment in communication messaging and priorities. Build strong relationships with stakeholders, media, and educate parameters of funding, safeguards in place, etc. Strategic Leadership Contribute to the strategic development of the Fund, reports out on top-line metrics to the CEO and board, and develop and implement the operational plan with other members of the Leadership Team (CEO, CFO, Director FD&I) Strategize longevity of the fund, identifying new models and partners, building a future and ensuring lasting resilience. Manage and mentor a team who will work collaboratively and creatively with you to deliver on the goals, commitments and obligations of the Fund, as well as establishing performance goals and supporting professional development. Support and cultivate an authentic and inclusive culture that values diversity of thought Work closely with the rest of the Leadership Team to ensure that necessary internal controls, policies, procedures and systems are in place to maintain the Fund's compliance with all applicable guidelines, obligations and agreements. Excellent communication skills, including and especially the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way and tailor key messages and approach effectively with a broad range of audiences Exceptional ability to visualize/translate complex ideas, data and metrics into accessible, engaging reports & materials Commit to advancing equity, inclusion, reconciliation and representation in all programs and policies Highly collaborative and can operate with a high level of authenticity and transparency, exceptionally strong judgment, decision-making ability, with an astute attention to detail and diligence surrounding risk management Strong consultative, consensus building skills, and an ability to foster effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
