It’s exciting, it’s rewarding, it’s hard work and offers career and personal growth. Role Overview We are currently looking for a Tax Manager located in our Cyberjaya, Malyasia office. This is a unique opportunity for an individual with a background or desire to specialize and be involved in various aspects of Quest’s U.S & Canadian transaction taxes (e.g. sales and use taxes) but will also support the U.S. income tax compliance/return processes. Responsibilities of this role will be primarily focused on transaction taxes and will report to the US Global Tax Team and work alongside the APJA Accounting team, which is also located in Cyberjaya. This is a hybrid role (part-time work from home).Responsibilities
- Assist in indirect taxes for US/Canada
- Manage sales of US/Canadian goods and services tax (GST) processes, including (but not limited to):
- Review property tax renditions and other transactional tax filings.
- Timely update budget accrual schedules for tax advisors.
- Oversee, analyze and/or prepare monthly tax payable reconciliations and adjusting journal entries.
- Assist in taxability determinations and prepare resulting journal entries for tax accruals.
- Monitor and update sales tax and/or product taxability in tax software.
- Oversee and conduct day-to-day aspects of any Americas region tax audits/examinations/notices as they arise.
- Review and/or prepare tax returns, workpapers, and related forms for U.S. federal, state income and franchise tax returns as time permits.
- Review and/or prepare U.S. estimated income tax payments and extensions, registrations, and other return processes as time permits.
Qualifications
- Education level equivalent to a four-year undergraduate degree (Bachelors) degree in Accounting/Finance.
- At least 4 years of direct and/or indirect tax compliance experience in private industry and/or public accounting
- Knowledge of basic software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Fluent in English.
- Knowledge of US/Canadian taxes such as transaction taxes (e.g. sales and use taxes).
- Ability to conduct tax research using various research tools including RIA, CCH, etc. and effectively communicate results in the form of discussion, presentation or technical memorandum.
- Experience with Oracle or other major ERP Systems.
- Ability to perform multiple concurrent and diversified tasks.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Flexibility to work with team members in different time zones (primarily U.S.).
- Ability to work independently, as well as within cross-functional teams.
