Develop the Project PipelineWelding Execution Plan that define the full scope of WeldProcedures required, schedule of qualification, quantity ofelectrodes and materials required for qualification. Ensure thatproper priorities relevant to project schedules are established andreview progress.Responsible for seeking thereview and approval of all Project Pipeline Weld Procedures throughdirect and indirect communications with the customer and CertifyingAuthority.Work with the Welding Engineeringgroup and Welding department to execute R&D developmentprojects / goals identified for pipelines underPPG.Develops and promotes a culture in linewith the company's values through the functionalgroupMaintain contacts with technical groupsto maintain updates on developments in weldingtechnology.Coordinate with test housesregarding testing of welding qualificationcoupons.Co-ordinate the technical selection ofwelding wires and repair electrodes based on their physical andchemical and corrosion properties as well as considering theirweldability and economics. Conduct regular review of WeldingConsumables requirements v/s availability to ensure availability ofthe same.Review project schedules, materialcontrol reports and welding consumable estimates to determinechanges to the welding execution plan.GuideWelding Engineers on day to day matters and mentor trainee weldingengineers to have better understanding of Codes, Standards andProject requirements.Assist the company inresolving metallurgical, welding and quality related problems,through investigating cause of failures and prescribing fit forpurpose.Assist in the support and developmentof automatic welding systems, if required, to meet the projectspecific requirements.Manage welding schoolfacility for the training and development of the workforce toimprove the welding methodology and good workmanshippractices.Responsible for assigned projectwelding engineering budget and projectschedule.Review of vendor documents related toWelding Engineering.Bid stage: review andsummarize customer specifications, identify bid qualifications andclarifications, project welder and procedure qualificationrequirements, welding consumables requirements and also generatethe pipeline cycle times/lay rates. Identify any special needs thatmay be need for execution.Understanding of ECAbased acceptance criteria for pipeline projects and must lead thesubcontracted and inhouse ECA activities from Welding Engineeringperspective.Communicates and maintainsrelationships with key suppliers and vendors for welding, NDT andfield joint coatings.Maintains anunderstanding of competition and innovation in the industry tomonitor upcoming changesMaintains adequatelevels of competent personnel within the department and mentorsstaff for succession planning.Other dutiesrelated to pipeline production; welding engineering as directed bySenior Manager Welding Engineering -PPG
