Significant reform is underway in Queensland. The Information Privacy and Other Legislative Amendments Act 2023 (IPOLA Act) amends the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) and the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act), to improve transparency and accountability of Queensland agencies and strengthen privacy protections available to individuals.

The OIC will implement the reforms and support agencies with preparation and compliance.

The Senior Training and Engagement Officer is critical to the successful roll out of the reforms. The role will design, develop and facilitate independent, expert training and engagement to Queensland government agencies about how to interpret and administer changes arising from the IPOLA Act.

As this is a unique and significant opportunity to contribute to the success of the implementation of the IPOLA Act, we are looking for someone with:

Extensive, proven skills in training and education, including preparation of training plans, presentations and resources, and facilitation/delivery of training. Experience in administrative law, with experience in working with the RTI Act, IP Act or comparable privacy legislation. Ability to work with others, including subject matter experts. Enthusiasm to drive training and education across Queensland and respond to feedback to continuously improve the training services provided. This is a temporary full-time opportunity for 12 months.
