Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised in Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).ABOUT THE ORGANISATIONAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated person to work for Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation (Narang Bir-rong). Narang Bir-rong provides Family Support Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families in Western Sydney, Nepean Blue Mountains, Northern Sydney/Eastern Sydney/Sydney and connected communities as well as Out of Home Care placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who cannot remain at home due to abuse and/or neglect.The role is full-time (35hrs) and all roles are based at our Penrith Office.Tasks & ResponsibilitiesAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated person to work for Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation (NBAC). The role is full-time (35hrs) and is based at one of our Penrith offices within the Western Sydney area. NBAC provides Family Support Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families in the Western Sydney/Nepean Blue Mountains communities as well as Out of Home Care placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who cannot remain at home due to abuse and/or neglect..Qualifications & experienceAboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification under the Anti-Discrimination Act.Valid NSW Driver's licence.Probity checks including Working with Children Check (WWCC) & National Police Check.Evidence of at least two COVID-19 Vaccinations.Qualifications in Community Services or relevant field.High level of oral and written communication skills and demonstrated report writing and use of Microsoft office programs including word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.Ensure provision within the team of comprehensive assessment, support and service to Narang Bir-rong carers. (Step by Step and Shared Lives qualifications required)Be available to team members and carers on a flexible basis outside office hours, including some weekend work and on call duties.Have a high level of organisational skills.Ability to use a data collection program and provide reports to the Senior Manager as required.Ability to prioritise workload and delegate appropriately.Work in a supportive and constructive manner with the Narang Bir-rong team.Experience of knowledge in child and family welfare and in foster care or a related area of alternate care for children is desirable.Experience in working in partnership with Community Services and other services/agencies to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.Knowledge of issues surrounding abuse and neglect of children and the impact of trauma and children protection.Demonstrated experience in engaging with stakeholders in a complex and diverse organisation.Demonstrated experience in the implementation and conducting a range of audits across a variety of welfare programs.Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing child safety management systems and safety audits across multiple sites.Mature outlook and well-developed communication skills.We work a  35-hour week , which means you are flexible with your working hours and work a 7- hour day between 8am - 6pm with a 30-minute lunch break.
