The Opportunity

This role is a 4 month leave coverage position. Finance and technology are inexorably linked, as growing volumes of data drive, not just operations and reporting, but critical decisions. Optimising digital financial systems with supporting processes and controls, enables business agility and operational success.

The System Accounting Chapter supports delivery in the Finance & Actuarial Transformation & Systems Centre of Excellence (CoE) as it continues to develop, enhance, and maintain financial systems, financial process plus ensure integrity of financial data and associated controls. The Chapter continues to support Finance & Actuarial SMTs during Transformation and Integrations as well as running the business.

System Accountants bridge the Finance & Actuarial team and our technical Oracle experts -> all System Accountants have an accounting qualification with financial system expertise. They understand the current state of financial system data flows, controls, and processes, including customer payment/receipting functionality, that forms a basis of RLA's financial transactions and reports. Their craft includes the design, analysis and review of financial systems and associated financial processes and controls.

Your Story

Analysis of current state of nominated financial system/process/accounting with respect to the change of accounting standards from MOS (Margin on Service) to IFRS17 and USGAAP Analysis of data as it flows from source systems into our Finance System ecosystem in order to prepare our financial statements Development of future state user stories (requirements) using best practice, under guidance of Sponsor Delegate and Project Team Work with the Project Team, including our third-party vendors, in understanding how Oracle Fusion and OFSAA capabilities will be used in our Future of Finance state Unit test and triage financial system and data integration artefacts under guidance Create work papers associated with any testing including remediation activities Work with Change Management for new standard operating procedures, training and documentation as required Key competencies required Life Insurance experience is mandatory Finance Systems in a major ERP Excellent analytical skills - attention to detail and tenacity. A challenging and enquiring mind. Understanding of common software failures and faults. Experience in a variety of testing efforts. Ability to work to tight deadlines in an agile environment Work with structure but can juggle multiple activities in different completion states Outcomes driven - must be focussed on meeting deadlines Proactive - able to drive the outcomes with different business units Collaborative and supportive to business and IT stakeholders to deliver to agreed dates Communicative - able to provide clarity to business stakeholders Strong relationship management skills - ability to manage external parties to timeframes Flexibility - willingness to focus on additional initiatives as they arise Ideal experience Accounting/Finance tertiary qualifications or equivalent Experience in financial system implementation/upgrades is highly desirable Experience working with Oracle Fusion ERP, Finance platform implementations and operations highly desirable Experience of Jira technology Previous delivery of separation, merger and acquisition changes ideal but not essential Proven track record of successfully delivered projects in an agile environment Worked in small project teams delivering enterprise-wide projects with IT changes Managed external vendor relationships Worked with Finance and IT stakeholders Critical Skills
