Position Purpose The purpose of this position is to communicate, plan, prioritise, analyse information and make decisions within a customer focused, fast paced environment. The Purchasing Officer is responsible for planning and procurement of materials and services ensuring continuous operation of the plant to increase customer satisfaction and to meet demand.

This role is a temporary position (1- 2 months) with the possibility of promotion to a permanent position depending on the candidate. This position is available due to an internal promotion.

Areas of Responsibility Material Requirements Planning (MRP) of stocked items, raw materials and finished goods in line with strategic procurementPurchasing of raw materials and finished goods from local and overseas suppliers Create and maintain receipt routings and delivery tracking in a timely manner and before month endUnderstanding of import/export and various international shipping requirements from places such as China, Thailand, Taiwan, Europe and USAUpdate and maintain ETA'sConfirm and acknowledge ordersOrganise remedial action with supply on timeUpdate records and all stakeholders to optimise inventories to:Meeting Customer and Production demandDemand PlanningMeet Project requirementsMinimise stock outs and excess inventoryCreate purchase orders according to SOX requirementsProvide assistance to warehouse in regard to stocktake counts if requiredMaintain up-to-date item purchasing records in JDE.Maintain supplier/product data, certifications and compliance information.Check supplier and shipping invoices for accuracyReview invoices to ensure accuracy of charges Qualifications and Experience Required Minimum of 3 years purchasing and inventory management experience with a strong emphasis on MRP in an ERP environment.Strong computer skills including sound Excel spreadsheet competencies.Strong analytical and process orientation.A high level of oral and written communication skills.Experience in a high paced, agile, fast moving customer focused environment.
