Our client, a large hospital, has engaged Milestone IT to assist them in finding a Purchasing Officer for their Project Office. The Purchasing Officer will play a key role in supporting the hospital's procurement and purchasing functions, including invoicing, purchasing, and procurement activities. This is initially a 6-month contract position with the potential for a permanent position based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Process purchase orders, invoices, and procurement requests in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures.Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing and terms, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of procurement activities, including purchase orders, invoices, receipts, and contracts.Review and verify invoices and other financial documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with procurement policies and procedures.Assist in the preparation of procurement reports and provide data analysis as needed.Collaborate with other departments within the hospital, including Finance, Project Management, and Supply Chain, to ensure smooth and efficient procurement processes.Monitor and manage supplier performance, including evaluating vendor performance, resolving issues, and conducting vendor audits as necessary.Stay updated with relevant procurement regulations, policies, and industry best practices, and ensure compliance with procurement laws, regulations, and hospital policies.Participate in procurement-related projects and initiatives as assigned.Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and providing timely and accurate information.Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in procurement or purchasing roles, preferably in a healthcare or related industry.Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and regulations, including purchasing, invoicing, and procurement processes.Experience with procurement software and tools, as well as proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise work, and meet deadlines.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial document processing.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.Relevant certifications, such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), are a plus.If you are a proactive and skilled Purchasing Officer seeking a contract opportunity with the potential for a permanent position in a reputable hospital, we encourage you to apply.
