Head of ManufacturingWeir MineralsSydney, NSWOnsite The Head of Manufacturing will be responsible for enabling and supporting the delivery of manufacturing output in a safe and efficient way. The successful candidate will be overseeing a large foundry, elastomer shop, machine shop and maintenance, and will work with the respective shop managers to ensure that business objectives are met.This role will act as the escalation point for the various shops and will provide overall guidance and support on resolving any issues and challenges. The Head of Manufacturing is pivotal in managing daily operations whilst aligning them with the broader objectives outlined in the Operations strategy. The successful professional will provide expert guidance on processes to capture, manage, develop, and share information, enabling the adoption of new methodologies within designated teams. We believe in fairness and choose to be honest, transparent and authentic in everything we do.Key Responsibilities: Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.Support the delivery of operation plans and business activities for the achievement of short and long-term business objectives.Monitor, evaluate and improve each operational shop's performance, including the efficiency of staff, procedures and production costs.Lead the manufacturing management team to optimize the use of human and material resources to achieve as per budget and business objectives.Lead the development and implementation of all manufacturing activities to maximize the funds invested.In conjunction with the shop managers, plan and execute operating plans, particularly with regard to production, output, quality and quantity, cost, lead time available, labour requirements, planned production programs, control activities and inventory levels.Oversee the management of plant facilities including maintenance, inventory controls and asset management.Drive improved production methods and processes through the use of lean and continuous improvement activities.Collaborate with other departments including supply chain, projects and finance.Prepare the annual manufacturing budgets and manage adherence to these.Provide regular and accurate management reporting on business KPIs and performance.Drive operational and site improvements, with the support of shop managers and other departments.Manage any manufacturing escalations and issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business continuity and output.Responsible for workforce planning and talent management.Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.Lead an operational environment protection culture and align all objectives to achieve environmental targets and no harm to the environment.Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Prior leadership experience is required in a similar role within the manufacturing space (minimum 15 years).Advanced skills in commercial acumen and business operations are essential.A Master of Business Administration is desired, though a minimum bachelor's degree in business or engineering is required.Founded in 1871, Weir is a world leading engineering business with a purpose to make mining operations smarter, more efficient and sustainable.
