Senior Safety Advisor - CopperString - 258933

We're changing the way Australia generates its energy, are you ready for a change?  The Project  UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink's delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland's North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid. The project scope includes:

• 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden

• 330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry

• 220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa

• up to six new substation sites.

The Opportunity Please note this role will initially be based in Brisbane, with transition into a site delivery role requiring DIDO/FIFO or relocation where additional allowances will apply. Townsville based applicants would be highly considered. Key Accountabilities: Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will provide advice and support in driving improvements in HS performance through alignment and delivery of UGL HS programs,and identification and management of HS risks within the business. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and for adherence to company policies and other applicable laws, regulations and standards for the workplace.

Monitor and interpret relevant HS legislation, policies and regulations in order to provide direction and advice to projects which meet statutory and corporate objectives and responsibilities. Where required, assess safety in design requirements and provide input for constructability reviews. Contribute to the risk management framework, including facilitating  risk workshops in order to effectively plan work in accordance with the project schedule. Ensure that UGL's HS objectives and goals are set and attained at the project level including tracking KPIs for the Business. Support the HS Manager to execute the Project Audit Assurance program; including maintaining good documentation records for easy of execution regarding third party audits and maintaining client prequalification status. About you. Diploma level or Tertiary Qualifications (Desirable), or Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety + trade background.

Certificate IV in Training  Minimum 5 years' experience as a HS Advisor in a high-risk industry (Project Construction Desirable). Experience working in the capacity of Principal Contractor (Desirable)

ICAM Incident Investigation trained and experience in leading investigations and thorough report writing skills that are well received by Regulators, senior management and client representatives. Working knowledge of ISO450001 or AS 4801 Experience in civil construction works, specifically bulk earthworks, concreting, machinery operation, piling and roadway construction. The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.

Where applicable, evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.
