The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent government agency which, in partnership with Basin governments, manages the Murray-Darling Basin's water resources in the national interest. With the enactment of the Water Act 2007, the MDBA was established as an independent expertise-based statutory agency.

The MDBA aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians. The Murray-Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia's economy and home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 50 First Nations. How we manage the Basin as a whole connected system, manage our water carefully, and protect it for future generations is set out in the Murray-Darling Basin Plan . 

The Positions We have two available positions for Program Officers in the Environmental Water Coordination team. Our team's work has a high degree of collaboration with state government agencies, river operators and on-ground site managers. Together with input from First Nations and the broader community we plan, deliver and monitor the outcomes of water for the environment in the southern Murray-Darling Basin, with a particular focus on The Living Murray .

The Program Officer (TLM Monitoring) role is responsible for helping coordinate projects, review reports and communicate outcomes from the long-standing TLM ecological monitoring program. This program assesses the ecological response to environmental water at key icon sites along the Murray River.

The Program Officer (TLM Planning and Delivery) role is primarily an administrative and secretariat support function, which contributes to overall team functions and program delivery. This role supports the TLM Portfolio Manager and Assistant Director in coordinating the planning and delivery of environmental water in the southern Murray-Darling Basin.

Your key responsibilities in the Program Officer (TLM Monitoring) role are to: Assist coordination of an annual portfolio of 80-100 TLM ecological monitoring projects, including overseeing a database of project status and liaising with on-ground state-government agencies on project updates.Contribute to coordinating, collating and communicating information to support the annual evaluation of TLM icon site condition.Review and synthesize technical information into clear communication material including email summaries and briefing papers to support senior staff and decision makers.Contribute to broader tasks for the team as required, including representing the team at meetings and preparing briefing papers and other operational documents.Your key responsibilities in the Program Officer (TLM Planning and Delivery) role are to: Contribute to coordinating, collating and communicating information to support the planning and delivery of water for the environment in the southern Murray-Darling Basin. Support the Southern Connected Basin Environmental Watering Committee, by providing secretariat and administration support.Assist with the development and administration of funding agreements and budget management for the program.Contribute to broader tasks for the team as required, including representing the team at meetings and preparing briefing papers and other operational documents.What we offer you  You will have the opportunity to work on projects where you contribute to shaping the future of one of Australia's greatest natural assets and protect it for future generations.At the MDBA you will undertake a variety of interesting and challenging work.
