Public Relations Manager

Calling experienced and passionate Public Relations Manager!About Gidget Foundation AustraliaGidget Foundation Australia (GFA) is the largest and only national provider of free specialist perinatal mental health psychological services to support the emotional wellbeing of expectant and new parents.The opportunityWe are seeking an experienced Public Relations Manager to lead our in-house PR efforts and collaborate closely with an external PR agency. This role will play a pivotal part in shaping our public narrative, especially among health professionals, government agencies, and new and expectant parents. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the mental health sector, exceptional communication skills, and a track record of managing successful PR campaigns that engage diverse audiences.

Some of the day to day• Strategy development - Working alongside our external PR agency, lead the development of GFA's

strategic PR initiatives to align with GFAs mission and goals, positioning GFA as the leading organisation within the sector.

• Agency Collaboration - Serve as the primary liaison between the GFA and the external PR agency and any other external stakeholders e.g. lobbyists, coordinating efforts and ensuring external campaigns align with GFA's overarching strategy and marketing campaigns.

• Media Relations - Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists to secure coverage that amplifies our advocacy and support initiatives, particularly with local media outlets to ensure Gidget House launch coverage and promotion.

• Event Coordination - Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure representation of GFA at key events.

• Performance analysis - Evaluate the effectiveness of PR campaigns and strategies, leveraging data to make informed decisions and adjustments as needed.

• Develop the Gidget Angel program (lived experience volunteers), identifying new Gidget Angels and working with them to amplify their stories.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Strong communication skills, both written (copywriting) and oral with excellent attention to detail.• Strategic thinking - ensuring the PR strategies align with the organisation's goals and objectives,

identifying trends and opportunities and being proactive.• Relationship management - ability to manage multiple relationships and stakeholders both internally and

externally.• Project management to oversee multiple PR campaigns simultaneously with strong time management

and prioritisation skills.• Media relations - solid understanding of media relations principles and practices.• Crisis communication - work closely with internal and external teams to develop crisis communication

plans.• Analytical skills - measuring effectiveness of PR campaigns and tracking KPIs.• Adaptability - ability to be adaptable and responsive to take opportunities that present themselves.• Experience working with volunteers with lived experience.
