THE ROLE

Reporting to the Deputy Secretary, East Division, the role is responsible for providing high level and expert executive advice and support on a broad range of issues and projects within the East Division operations. It undertakes executive level project work and is pivotal in prioritising and progressing urgent matters on behalf of the Deputy Secretary. The role is responsible for overseeing the Division's Care Services operations program, including both the metropolitan and rural Placement and Support Planning teams.

The Director works within a complex environment characterised by competing priorities, and often deals with issues requiring innovative strategies in resolving various and wide-ranging issues. The role liaises, consults and negotiates at a senior level on a range of executive and policy issues. The Director also supports Areas in engagement with Aboriginal communities, service system reform and direct service provision activities.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

Provide high-level specialist advice and support on a range of operational matters, including complex, sensitive client and community issues and projects. Exercise initiative and independence in dealing with the division's priority issues and as required coordinate cross divisional responses to ensure that the division is responsive to emerging and contentious issues.
